How much and where..
Couple of prime questions people should consider;
1. How much are you going to use it?
2. Where are you going to use it?
If your only going out less than a handfull of weekends a year, the odd trip as it were, then plenty of mid ranged budget models out there.
If your going to be using it a lot, then spend the cash and it should last.
Also if your out all year, during the wet and windy times like some of us, then investment in a quality tent is certainly worth it.
My personal experience of khyams has been ok summer and festival types but can degrade pretty quick and are not the most compact but are cheap.
I sell more the top end of things from Vaude and Exped, I use an Exped Orion, but these are costly but then my Exped Orion has seen a LOT of use and still going strong. So really best to decide on your answers to the above and go from there..
Also, if you do buy a cheap tent as that is all you need, then DO buy some good tent pegs, as cheap tent will come with cheap pegs and many campsites these days have their pitches underlain with gravel hardcore to ensure rapid water drainage.. so a few stiff hard ground pegs like this are similar are always worth adding to your peg bag;
