Not here, it's not. My bike has cast wheels and came on Trailwings. I've been pleasantly surprised by them so far. They've been up to a bit of slight hooning on cold, streaming wet roads.

How the fek would you know........you've only done 100 'dry' miles........

.................none taken.....:D

Tourances

Not sure if the rear wheel should be able to stand up on its own

These came off today having done just under 12,000 miles

Yellow, alloys, came with Dunlops. Happy so far. 60% tar, 40% good gravel.

Red - alloy - tourances. Only done 800 miles so far but seem OK. I had tourances on my 1150gs and my Adventure so I've no experience of any other type of tyre. They certainly last well but I'd be interested to know opinions of other brands/models as I may try something different next time. I don't do alot of off roading so the 020's sound like a good option. Any oinions?

Anakees on mine. But with the promise of similar levels of grip and longer life I think that I'm going to swap to Tourance when these have done.

Anybody run a rear tourance and front anakee, as I guess I'll blow the rear first?

Came with Anakees which were ok and lasted about 5K for the rear. Have changed to 020s and wouldn't go back. The steering is much quicker, with improved grip and stability.

Red bike, came with tourance tyres, have no complaints, find them very good for my sort of riding, mostly tarmac but a few forest tracks and a bit of green laning.

Yep, got 020's fitted, but the've only been on the bike for about 700mls, first impressions are very favorable with great stability and a speed of turn-in not expected with a bike of this weight/style, grip seems very good in both low and high speed turns, i've noticed a weave under very heavy braking (115-10) felt like the rear had lifted but the ABS did not cut in so I guess it was a true weave, it wasn't scary, and conditions were greasy.

I'd give trailwings 4/10 (unstable at hi speed, with an inability to hold a chosen line at speed, ie a bit of understeer)

I'd give 020's 8/10 (not sure about how long they will last, and they have limited off road ability, but they are a great road tyre)

Will post report again at about 2000mls

Regards Shep

much obliged :thumb

The tourances are very good, i'm thinking about the 020's, and with nearly 4K and the rear is starting to square slightly, so i may be shopping in a few months.

I took the GS very briefly off-road and it was quite bizzare for me having never off-roaded a bike! My only concern about the 020s is i managed to chew through them on the VFR in 5-6000 miles, so the GS will probably be the same if not worse...especially when the summer comes :D

Blue with spokes.... Anakees. There were four other bikes that came in the same shipment to the dealer and all four had different kinds of tires.

Why does BMW do this?

Blue with spokes is a good choice! :)

Several reasons I guess. Some might be:
- No ties to one manufacturer should something happen
- More manufacturers make suitable tyres for a rather narrow market
- More manufacturers = More competition = Cheaper prices

I think most manafacturers do it, certainly Honda.

Dunlop Trailmax. Not impressed, but the roads have been a bit greasy of late. Not quick to turn in, but and the front tends to push wide. Think I will try 020's next but not until I've worn these out. Got to get some 010's for the CBR first.

Mine will come with the tyres I want :)

When I ordered my 1150 I told the dealer I wanted Tourances on it. It came with different tyres but they took them off and put Tourances on.

When you're buying a bike, you're entitled to have it with the tyres you prefer, right?

Cheers,
Michel
