A WC R1200RT, or a WC1200GSA, both highly specced come to about 16K (if you add boxes to the GSA TE model), and i reckon both would tour brilliantly, obviously the GSA would have an advantage on the gnarlier stuff, but interested purely in residual values.

What do tossers think ?

I think that if you're buying a bike for the residual values, you're pretty much missing the point of having a bike :augie

Have to agree with you there. Just enjoy it life is too short you are going to take a loss whatever. JJH

:agree:agree

just buy the bike that will make you smile the most even if its not one of the above.it will be worth the extra grand or 2.
poxy residuals i hate that word  its like enviromental services (dustman) etc etc if you really need to worry about that , you need to buy secondhand maybe?

Got cash in the bank waiting, just interested in what peoples views were, you obviously haven't seen my previous thread on economy.. :D .

I'm just tight, but fancy a WC boxer 1200. If I thought the residuals were much better on one over the other, it might sway me that way.

I did look at a custom boxer from Kevils (on the basis they look great, and would probably hold reasonable value), but I dont think this would be a good thing to put a lot of miles on (probably about 8k per year).

no i guess i missed those posts............ stop being tight and just buy what one you want there won't be enough differance to worry about, unless your really really tight:blast:D
buy a kevils one too for sundays :thumb

Would it not be feasible for you to buy one of each? That way you can find out exactly which one holds it value best.

However, as far as enjoyment goes I wouldn't part with that sort of money for an RT personally. It's the most bland vehicle I've experienced since the Honda VFR, with odd ergonomics (mirror position for example), and feels like a super-scooter.

How about a second hand low mileage TC where someone else would have taken the worst hit. Well sorted without so many electric gadgets to go wrong. Then put the cash you have saved into an old British classic. If you buy the right one the prices are going up at a ridiculous rate and you can have some fun along the way.

+1.
Fuck the money, get the bike you want............

Kinda with Timpo on this one....when ever was buying a new bike an "investment"? It is all about value for money. The value being the enjoyment you get from it. Get the one you want.....if you don't you will end up chopping the bike in early to get the one you really wanted in the first place ....and that is the expensive way round.

Buy an R90S, keep it in a warm dry garage and keep checking its residual value every day :beerjug: That's more fun than worrying about trivialities....

Agree with this as well, but I don't see it as an investment, just wondered which is likely to lose least, which in my view would be the GSA due to the broader appeal, but I still like the RT (and have ridden pre-WC versions of both).
