Whilst its good .... is that really the best?

This may not impress some people, but I'm in love with the motor on my 2014 GS TE, but I think it's steering is a noticeably slower than my GSA Twin Cam was and apart from it's lack of mass compared to the GSA, the handling is not any better. I'm basing this on only having mine since Saturday, putting a few miles on it on Sunday and riding it up to Inverness for work via some fairly decent roads.

I love the motor, that's the big draw for me, and on Saturday the rain was pretty heavy and rain mode worked very well, as dynamic or road reduce the amount of rotation needed for throttle increments (a sensation you don't get on a cable operated system) so would have had the Traction control kicking in.

So in summary, it's a great all rounder, with a peach of an engine, but handling wise not the "revelation" some are stating. I'm a pure roadie, so feel well enough qualified to make that statement.

Get some miles on it, as I find the handling better than the TC, and I had a few of those.:rob:thumb

Since someone posted about regular 63 mpg I thought no way having got between 43-46mpg before.

Today after 100 miles, i hit 63. So it took a while, and the rules I established were;
I couldn't go above 65mph for best mpg.
I couldn't use the engine in the higher revs (stay under 4k)
Have to short shift.
This was a mixed route mainly country roads and included traffic towards the end in town. Temps were 14 degrees this morning up to about 23 this afternoon. I had Super unleaded and am on anakee 3 tyres.

My fuel range is looking quite promising now!

It's certainly doable but takes the fun out of the engine as it sings high up. But it still showed me how much grunt there is low down. It also shows that the bike can actually be quite efficient if you want it to be!

Tito, your economy riding rules just about sum up how I ride to get 63mpg. Its not a set of rules I stick to but ones the bike feel happy at on a long day out round the North of England, Odd excursions into the higher rev ranges for overtaking and big hills are offset against long down hill sections on little throttle. I have no doubt some readers will be thinking I'm missing the fun of high speed riding but on the narrow lanes 40 to 50 mph seems very fast. The engine loves these speeds and is so responsive in the 3000 to 4000 region.
