I have an anoying whine on the bike like a bearing has gone. Its high pitch and seems to go up and down with the revs and under load when accelerating. It sounds to me like gearbox/diff. But the bike has only done 13500 miles. It was stood for 5 years. Is there any external bearings that could have gone rusty on the box or are they all internal and oil lubricated..
Eg output shaft??
Cheers R.B

Probably gearbox bearing, is it there in all gears?
Not that that could eliminate the box though.

When I said all in, I think that included postage on the gearbox but not removing and refitting it.
If you're unable to take it off yourself, I'll PM you the details of someone who can:thumb

Whine

I have just spent a month and about £700 trying to resolve a similar issue, (see posts)
Bearings in gearbox were fine but there are needle roller bearings on the layshaft that were scuppered on mine.
I have replaced anything that moves from engine backwards, actual labour time (me) was about 2 days in total rest of the time was waiting for the box.

Knowing what I know now I would have worn better ear plugs!

Get it on a rolling road and get the stethoscope out and place it on the possible areas.
