Hi Guys,
My '07 X-Country has developed a front brake whine/moan when the brake is applied at mid pressure point. The pads were a bit low so I have changed them, cleaned everything, applied copper grease to backs etc. Whine still persists.
I did notice that when I changed the pads the pistons did not operate at the same time (one slightly after the other). Not sure if this would cause it.
Any suggestions?
I am considering changing the piston seals but can't track any down. Moto - works don't have them and when I check on RealOEM.com the front caliber seals aren't listed (rears are).
Anyone know where I can get any and what the part number is or are they common to other models?

P.S. Only thing I've done at the front recently is change the wheel spacers for a stainless set......hmmmmm could that have made a difference to the brake/disk alignment?

Nick.

Put the original spacer back in. Does the wining go away?

I had the same problem with sintered pads on my Xcountry, I got hold of a cheap pair of OEM pads and swapped to them - result! No noise now.

I tried sintered pads once and had this problem. Never use them now, only non sintered pads....and no noise at all.

Thanks. I've ordered some 'non sintered' hopefully that'll do it. I'll add a note to this thread when done if it does.....or doesn't:beer:

Nice new NON sintered pads fitted last night.......today still whines like an old London double decker. Back to the drawing board.
I'll try refitting the original wheel spacers in place of the highly regarded Scheffemeir set I fitted:( after that maybe replace the caliper piston seals if I can find some.

I doubt its the spacers. I'm running a set from Stefan on my bike too and no noise. Have you checked the brake disc itself?
