Whistle

I get a whistling noise emanating from the front of the bike somewhere around the back of the clocks. It seems to become audible at 30'ish mph but is gone or drowned out by more general wind noise when 40mph and greater is attained. Reaching forward and placing my hand around the area of the clocks seems to disrupt the noise and it becomes almost inaudible. It is definitely wind/speed related as on windier days wind gusts change the pitch of the sound.

Anyone else have/had this?

2017 bike as supplied - Anakee 3's.

Tyres, really? Ridden a couple of GS's extensively in last month with no whistling noise.

I find that the noise varies with the road surface - on some it isn't a problem yet on other surfaces it is much more pronounced

My new GS engine makes a sort of whistle at certain engine speeds. I quite like it, but the new Akra almost drowns it out.

I get one on my bike but it seems to be coming from the rear of the bike

don't know what it is but might be due to my top box being on

Road surface not a factor for me. As stated a wind gust can change the pitch. Struggling to reconcile it's tyres.

Anakee 3's are know for it. It is a 100% them.

Same as mine and Anakee 3's which peeps say is the problem. Be changing mine in a few weeks so we will see

Mine 2017 makes what I would describe as a warbling sound rather than a whistle, which I was assuming was mechanical noise from the engine, but I have the Anakee 3 tyres so I guess it could be them. I don't hear it at all speeds, and I've not really been very scientific about noting when it happens, but I think it is generally in the 30-50 mph range. May do it at faster speeds too, but is perhaps drowned out by the other noise.

The noise comes in at around 30mph snd does stay there till around 40mph, so you having anakee's, then it is definitely them.

What screen have you got as it seems worse since I fitted the Puig one and wondering if it could be a consequence of doing that also

So rode a GS with standard screen no noise like it. My 17 is a GSA also standard screen but with whistle noise at around 30mph. I wear earplugs so heck of a lot of noise is cut or attenuated but the whistle is quite clear. A wind gust will accelerate/raise the whistle level.

Curious to know from those insisting it is tyres whether the whistle noise reduces, increases or changes as the tyre (singular as I'm sure it's from the front of bIke) degrades through use.

The only non standard parts fitted are the Avant front fender and Mudsling.

Anakee 3's making the din. I had them on my 2017 Triple Black Adventure, 'suffered' the howl for 800+ miles, swapped to Avon Trail Riders (great tyre BTW) and noise gone immediately.....bliss! ;)
