IMHO The 1150 gs se is the bestlooking bike ive ever seen! I'm new to BM's and have just bought a silver 1150 gs.
Saw a couple of pictures in this forum and i think the white se is the dogs baldricks!
Now for the questions,
was the white only for the se? and is the se only an adventurer?

Could never afford an se so, could i "bluff" my silver one to look like it?

I am a professional spray painter so no worries on the colour change, and can get the stickers ok.

Can i fit the adventurer single seat onto my gs without the trouble of fitting a new subframe?
Probably sounds like a lot of hassle to some of you but it would make a nice winter project.
Anyone done this before? any piccies?
Cheers

1)Yes, & just the Adventure...

2) Yes but you need the rear rack assembly too AFAIK.

3) Yes, Den, but he's away right now on his bike, there were/are some pictures of it somewhere on here, it was/is Graphite in colour.

They are lovely and even though they only bought 90 into the UK more and more are turning up here. As you plan too people are also swapping bits on 1150's / 1100's so they have white ones.

I would think the paint would be a strange one to copy as its a funny matt finish.

If I was ever changing the colour on a silver GSA I would think about doing it red, I reckon with the big tank and simple white Humvee stickers and black beak cover it would really good.

The Se seat is a different colour to the standard ADV seat so they are like rocking horse poo. you can't buy the cover so would have to buy a new seat (mucho spondoolics).

I've done the ADV seat conversion and then recovered it. You need the seat catches, mounts and lock mech from an ADV to change the seat.
Here's mine.

The SE has different coloured stickers on the rack to (mines an SE rack). You'll also need

Cheers flip,
nice bike. So where did you get the seat done? what sort of cost.
do i need the whole rear frame or just the bits you mentioned fitted to the standard rear frame of my gs. and is the se rack different from the adv one?
as i say paint not a problem, but was not aware it was semi gloss. @so thanks for that, still easy for me though.
thanks for your help, any contacts to sourse some bits apart from this forum.
cheers
Ron

The SE paint is matt rather than semi gloss, feels nice to touch hey Trippy (admit it you stroke it everytime you walk past :D:D:D:D).

SE rack is the same as the standard ADV rack except for the sticker colour which on the SE is blue.

The seat was done by Les Wassalls mate for £45-50 IIRC. He does a mega job. The material used on the ADV/ADV SE is strange so mine is different. Wasn't really looking for a ADV copy as I am not keen on the big tank for day to day stuff.

PM me your email and I'll send you the part no's of the bits you need. The subframe is the same but rear rack, seat mountings, seat lock mech, seat is all different.

Will be monday before I can email it to you.

Post on the FS&W and see if anyone wants to change. Many think the twin seats are more useable (without the rear seat you have a rack for carrying stuff) and more comfy. Personally I prefer the one peice seat, better off road as it's a better shape.

My bike is a 55000 mile early example. Please ya'll think she's nice. Haven't finished adding bits yet, but do you ever.

Really want to try and get ADV suspension on which has 1" more travel. Think there are issues with the drive shaft thingy majig when you do this though as the ADV's one is a touch longer IIRC.

Will email tomorrow.

There's no probs with the conversion other than swaping the lock barrel which is easy enough (leave the key in!!!!!).

Just unbolt and bolt on new bits.

No one's mentioned the anodised wheels. It's an obvious difference between standard GS and Adventure.

i know shaun, but to be honest i could spend 3-4 hundred quid on more desirables. not really looking to change the bike to a full adventure. Just love the white colour scheme and the single seat. I think the duel seat is crap looking and not very comfortable. but each to his own. Will post piccies through the winter of the changes as i do them (if i do rather) and would love any comments as i do.

cheers
