Your bob on here Andy. Some folk on our estate have two cars , one bought one PCP. Just the other day the husband said we cant use the wifes car as its too close to the annual mileage!It’s up to everybody how they spend their money, I just find it mildly amusing that a few get embarrassed by the fact that they’ve spent a serious amount of money on a bike that they can’t do a lot of miles on because of the contract.
It’s the same with cars, why buy something you can’t use as often as you’d like to because the penalty charges are highI
I have PCP on my Africa Twin, it was 0% so why not. I was over the total 4yr mileage limit within about 18 months. When the PCP ends I’m just going to buy it. I’ve no interest in staying on the PCP merry-go-round forever.
went to williams manchester today and asked what they have planned for thursday, nothing really was the reply,look at youtube at 1700 hrs thurs for live release info they said.
I am in the 'buy what one can afford' camp personally.
If renting is better for you then fill ya boots.

Purchased my KTM on PCP. It meant I could have a deal by doing so. Bike has been paid off now two years ago. It is mine. I couldn’t give a toss about the milage I signed up for. 18500 miles now. I think I am keeping it a bit longer. Definitely not getting another large GS. Purely because one only needs to look in the for sale section, and the quantity available to buy at any given time, does amaze me. Competition is fierce and so are the financial sacrifices, if seller wanted to see the back of it pronto.
What I don't understand is the claims that the selling price is inflated to assist PCP sales.....it doesn't gell for me unless the manufacturers have a cosy agreement with each other on price points.
Firstly, the primary goal is to sell bikes at a price that maximizes profit and achieves market share (or unit volume) goals. BMW has a Brand that commands a premium over others but trails Ducati as price leader. So price is set to achieve market goals versus competition. PCP is a tool to assist customer purchases.
PCP finance is one tool to meet customer funding. But the finance divisions, or brokers, are separate entities that have P&L and balance sheets of their own and they raise finance based on their financial performance.....they are independent. What can happen, with in-house PCP, is they can get 'instructed' to raise residual value predictions thus reducing funding costs over the agreement term to 'artificially' reduce monthly headline costs.....the PCP provider then takes the financial hit if residual value then becomes less than market value at term-end, thus leading to a loss.
I may be wrong, but I am aware of this practice when volume sales need boosting in the car market is widespread.

Good points, and add to that the prices are pretty consistent across various markets where PCP isn't offered.
I’m going to swap my current 1250 for a green 1300 subject to a successful test ride. I will miss the adventure panniers but am going to make the switch to soft luggage anyway with this bike.
May chop in my S1000RR as well as I quite fancy an Indian or some kind of bobber as my second bike. I change my mind on this every time I ride the RR though!

Ordered mine , triple black , ticked most of the boxes apart from the aux lights . Deposit £500-00 talked about pre christmas , which would suit as I still ride in the nice winter days . Hope it fits as you say as dependant on the pillion for me as just got rid of the V4 Multi as too cramped for the Boss , so went back to the Gs as we have travelled 10,000s of miles on it. Really hope they have allowed the pillion to be comfortable along with the new sleek looks , fingers crossed. Like Snelly says I will miss the adventure panniers tho .
Lind Motorrad have no idea when they will have a demo bike. "We hope to see one this year".

Stick , Triple Black is always good...Hope you got sports suspension,sport brakes and the lighter forged wheels ,too ! And let us lowlifes who cant afford one or are disappointed that the tank is too small and engine 10 hp shy of expectation know what you think compared to your former 1250-HP...Merry Christmas...LOL All we need now is peace and cheap gas from Russia because even here in the US gas is barely affordable thanks to the idiots who run the donkey-show !
Well apart from the sports suspension as I like the centre of mass lower , not higher. Ducati made the the Rally V4s which was high and to be honest not as stable as the original ( road ) V 4 s .
Stick,higher center of gravity is actually good on a motorcycle as it makes it turn quicker...I would get the sports suspension especially since you ride two-up where stiffer springs are beneficial as also 20 mm more ground clearance...But it is Your bike !

part ex on my bike may be about 7-8k leaving me probably 12-14k on finance.... monthly payment would be about.... Bend over, i'm going in dry!

so im renting the bike, it will never be mine?
but you want a 5k deposit that i may not get back and i pay almost the cost each month of buying it... but if i do decide to buy it i have to pay another 5k in 4 years?
am i missing something?

You can own the bike at the end of the PCP period by making the Balloon Payment
Disagree sorry , the standard chassis works well , move around the bike , ride it better , no need for off road suspension, your missing the point , again
Stick to each their own...I must be riding harder than you because I have a half inch taller compared to the 20mm taller sports suspension on my 1250GS and still touch the edges on the bags riding hard...And I only weigh 200 lbs and have a way stiffer 180N/mm rear spring on it...If you have long legs , forgot you dont need it anymore with the low rider button on the new 13GS you would be way better off with the stiffer , 20 mm taller and quicker turning thank to less trail sports suspension ! Its the same that comes on the ADV to help with the bigger heft and really works great on the regular one...Your loss but it is Your bike and I know because I rode both bikes on the same roads ! On road of course as I dont ride off road.
