Who’s ordered one ?

Having been both to China and USA many times , I’ll take the Chinese stuff any day over the redneck rubbish

Absolutely. In the States, if it can't be made from iron they don't bother. In China, tell us what you want and we will make it.

Once, paid £26000 for a Harley ( yes, don't ask me why) and it rusted after 3 weeks. I kid you not, sold after 3 months.

Thats all you get chinese stuff because industry has left the UK long time ago and now with energy as high as it is thanks to stupid ideologists and war mongers will never come back…And Harleys are great…As boat anchors…LOL

I have just been to eyeball one. The dealer had all the colours except the green one. I like it, but will not be in any hurry to replace the 1250 - besides I have only covered 3k miles on it, so still getting used to it :).

One plus point for you (Boxerlust), the paniers are stepless adjustable, so you have got your equal sized paniers!

I have just replaced a panier lock with a Chinese copy - but for £2.66 delivered, what was there to loose

GSADavid...I am not against the new bike and a few impovements have come I really like like the frame seems to be super stable and handling even nimbler which is great. Also the practical compartment in the tank comes very handy at toll booths,etc...Like you said 2 Full sized bags as also the lighter forged wheels straight from the factory instead of having to pay another 4 grand...149NM of TORQUE is also good and class leading beating KTM and Ducati by 10 or 25 NM ! Which makes the GS the by far strongest powerplant in the ADV class up to 8000 rpm...All good ! Design I can overlook as also the ugly radar ports or missing tail-light.BUT a 19 liter tank is a deal-breaker and another 10 hp on top and another 1000 rpm top-end rush would have been the icing on the cake...IMHO
But even Mick Jagger knew already long time ago...You cant always get what you want ! So the 1250 will do for a while longer. because the goal-post has not moved far enough for me to entice me to spend as the 1250 as a 11 year old bike introduced in 2012 is still a modern , fun and up to date machine with the only flaws of wobbling at high speed, missing 20 hp on top to make it really fun and a 4 liter too small tank...LOL
AS for the tractor noises or better no exhaust sound of the R1300 I think the exhaust manufacturers will love it and make good money selling a lot of better sounding systems !

Sat on a Triple Black and a trophy 1300 today . Loved them .roomy for me at 6 foot 5 , good knee angle comfort , smaller but no clowns bike . Loads of nice stuff on them , an evolution as such . Testing one 7th of November when they are allowed to put them on the road , then if ok will order one . Excited 😎😎

It is my understanding the dealers are waiting for DVLA to load the bike onto the system so that they can register them. I sat on a Trophy and the seating position was good. I will book a test ride when I get my exhaust valve sorted next month. One thing I noticed is the the overall size of the cylinders are smaller than my 1250. I was also told that the cost of full luggage is £1600 ish fitted. It would now be interesting as to what the Adventure version would look like, and the RT version of it as well. Brave move by BMW for such a change, but that is progress.

Boxerlust, although the radar ports may appear to be be ugly, just look at it as an opportunity to decorate the front one with a smiley :D and maybe something like this on the rear .

I took the risk with the first 1200 Lc , had issues but thats progress. Had the first V4s Multistrada , again took the risk. Now its time to risk again on a bike as far as I can see had been filtered bike thro a long progression of investment , planning and innovation. I'm on board and looking forward the being a beta tester again and taking it on the chin , for my sins lol.
Its a small risk which I feel is worth the investment and future adventures.

GSADavid...I like you way of thinking ! I just think they could have designed these radar boxes more elegantly and left a real taillight on it because using blikners as taillights might confuse some car drivers and look plain ugly to me on a motorcycle...But these are not dealbreakers for me ! I am looking forward to a testdrive too but I am afraid the boxer might be too refined not feeling like a real 2 cylinder anymore being too smooth like a 4 cylinder...we'll see !

Been to Clermont Ferrand today to get a trade in offer for my 1200

I’ll see what they come back with this week and compare to the St Etienne dealer when I test ride on Saturday

‘Inch Allah………
I will be heading in to Périgueux soon, organise a ride and test the water for trade in. Prices here are mental.

I know someone who went to order one but told me they stepped away when the dealer asked for a non refundable £1000 deposit
I don't personally understand why you would order something and balk at a deposit. You either want it or you don't. And if you are half hearted or in danger of not being able to afford the full purchase don't be enquiring or making orders in the first place. Its alot of money so be very sure not half hearted.

Hope to get my ordered bike end Nov or sooner . There were some allocated bikes at the dealers that sold when I was sat there . Think they will be on the road end of next week as the dealer was saying a week .

It was the non refundable element of the £1000 deposit that he balked at

Would you take a £1000 gamble on something you have yet seen let alone ridden?

No which is why I wouldn't put the order down ! Until I seen it. That's my entire point. People throwing orders out on something they don't even know they want. Bizarre, fomo stuff.

Saw one on the road today and the hideous headlight actually looked fine in the flesh together with a whole new look and tech. Nice looking bike and crystal clear display plus alot of new functions etc. Looked slim and was light which reminded me more of it leaning towards the KTM, V Strom look. The new frame looks very nice indeed and the whole bike looked very different to what I was expecting.

I'm sure there are many other BMW Motorrad dealers who wouldn't request a £1000 (non refundable) deposit and he has since found one.

Unsurprisingly, his local dealer who wanted the £1000 didn't get the business !
