Who’s switched to an RS from a GS

Gooner have you considered a 2014 or earlier Multistrada? At 6’3” with lowered pegs I find it fits me perfectly, and of course goes well, and sits in your budget range.

I’d never tried one until May, they’re a huge revelation to me.

The 2014 was the last of the fire breathing desmos.

you can get a fairly recent Vstrom 650 for that sort of money which can scratch a V twin itch
I had a vstrom 650, absolutely brilliant bike. Never once looked back at it in the garage though, ticked all boxes except lust.

Currently on YouTube looking at Supersport and Multi 950’s. Think one of my current bikes would have to go to afford a newer version

I’ve tried the newer ones, they are not the full fat raw experience of a straight through exhaust standard desmo 1200. Have a go on a ‘14 1200S touring or similar first.

They may not be as fire-breathing but arguably have more bullet proof motors and still have bags of power. That 950 Testastretta lump is about the most reliable motor Ducati ever produced. Put it this way, after owning a lot of big boxers and sports bikes, I don't find the 950 wanting really. Wind it on and the thing picks up and flies. It's a very linear delivery and has enough torque to satisfy. I prefer the supersport to the multi in 950 flavour though...multi feels a bit more twitchy and flighty, just not as settled (don't know if the different suspension is the cause or whether it uses different rake/trail but it's not as sure footed feeling you get with the Supersport which is planted and stable at any speed). May have been the test bike but riding them, the supersport was the clear winner for me as it oddly felt more comfortable and doesn't give much legroom away either!
