I've had a go at relocating the motorolla radio I use into the tool compartment under the rear seat on my 1150. I've taken out the tool tray, and transferred most of the tools into a small pouch.
If I place the radio, tool pouch and puncture kit in the under seat area all together, the radio transmitts electrical "HT lead" type interferance to the other rider and the system is unusable as a result. The noise rises and falls with engine revs. However, if I turn off the bikes engine, it works crystal clear.
Now the bizarre bit :- If I remove the tools and puncture kit, just leaving the radio its all clear again even with the engine running.
OK, so the obvious solution is to either reposition the radio or the tools, but why does this happen????
