Who can extend my swing arm?

Some of you may remember "project bitza".. The R80RT mono I converted to semi GS.. Well its languished in the back of my garage pretty much unused since its mot as my Cagiva tends to get pulled out of the garage first.

Anyway.. I'm now ready to start thinking about Bitza take 2.. Time to do something proper with the suspension. I've already tracked down a Xt600 front end which I think will fit fine (with a little modification). But.. That leaves the question of the rear end.. The swing arm will need extending and the shock mounts relocating.. So.. who can do this.. And whats it going to cost me?

Don't do it James you aren't a million miles away with what you have. Change the mudguards and have a word with the fella on this site who makes exhausts and fit some decent suspension.

If you need some inspiration this was posted on Advrider. Loads of class and not justy another jacked up off roader that's going to cost you far more to do than it's ever worth.

Hmm.... That bike looks really tasty.

Been thinking that my bikes biggest faults are its suspenders.. maybe a later set of R forks and brakes might sort out the front? and I did always say I'd get some shocks made up by falcon.. hmmm.. maybe I'll take that route first.

Whats wrong with the front end on there at the minute? A second disk would improve things and that's a very cheap option that's a quantum leap over what you have. A pair of Norton Commando silencers mounted high level would look good - I have a pair for my 100/7 and they sound glorious. cheap to buy as well.
 
You're correct that the main issue with the front end at present is the brake(s) or lack of to be more accuate.. But my feelings towards the bike are a bit mixed.. I like what it has become but it is not exactly what I aimed to create.. I wanted to build something that would cover green lanes/ back road runs and touring.. but it's become more of a sunny sunday back road bimbler.

I've even contemplated ripping it apart again and rebuilding it as a cafe racer.. ie put back in the original mono running gear and fit it with rear sets and clip ons (the pipes it currently wears would look perfectly in place then).

And then put the more dirt bike running gear into a R100 frame I have kicking about.. All I would need to finish that then would be an engine.

Hmmm.. I'm going to have a long serious think before I go any further.

Rob.. whilst I think of it.. what kind of landy did you end up with? I'm currently enjoying the trills of a V8 engined SWB series 3.. :)
 
I wanted a Series Landy but they were either projects, knackered or very expensive.

Tell me about it.. I paid a grand for mine a year ago and have spent at least the same again getting it up to scratch.. And the again my daily discovery is just as much of a money pit...

They look like flipped over standard exhausts and downpipes

Pretty much..

Now has a digital dash (speedo/rev) thing to replace the old R80 dash as the speedo was not just inaccurate it bounced about all over the show
and she's now fitted with original hand guards and wing mirrors.

I'm almost tempted to turn the pipes upside down and see what they look like.. I have set of front pipe which dont have the balance pipe... hmmm..

Pales into insignificance compared to setting the timing on an airhead fitted with points. Nothing like putting the back of your hand on a red hot exhaust to focus your mind :)
