I travel a modest 28 miles a day on a mix of bumpy back roads and the Milton Scrubs road system. Annoyingly they seem to be digging my side of MK up yet again but the bike certainly makes life easier and takes away the hassle of finding car parking spaces in CMK

Yup, mee tooo.

About 16 miles (each way) of filtering through M27 queues or 18miles of single-track, potholed, flooded, gravel-coved single-track country lanes... much more fun! :D The GS is perfect for it. :thumb2

33 mile commute from Medway to Canary wharf, most days with a pillion.

Visibility is great and have few problems with filtering. I have Renthal Twinwalls and alloy mirrors. The Bars pass over the top of most car mirrors. Only have to be careful when 2 vans are stopped next to each other (mirror on mirror). I use mostly 2nd gear on the approach to Balckwall Tunnel.

40 miles each way on my R12GSA in all weathers and each time as enjoyable as the last. May not be the most powerful bike in the World but for a daily commute unbeatable! :beerjug: Recently I bought a 2007 K1200GT with the view to replacing the GSA however the GT was sold two months later, thank God I had kept my GSA. :cool

Used to do 130 miles per day commute and it never felt as big as it actually is.

Absolutely bloody perfect for saving me 90 minutes per day compared to the car.

Go for it.:thumb2

32 miles a day nearly all on traffic choked roads, A32 Gosport road! say no more, I love commuting on my 1200gs it makes me feel so smug and is dead easy to do, I pass lots of other bikes who then follow me, the GS is so much easier to ride than any other bike I have had due to the vision and the flexibility. Another thing is it makes you so sharp in general riding, you have to be otherwise you will come a cropper.

130 a day, on a 1200GS. Love it!:D:D:D

Out of interest, it costs me £11 to do that. Cheap transport?

I commute from Sarf London into Victoria.

I sometimes use my GS, but my old Africa Twin is much better in heavy London traffic.

60 mile round trip into central london every day. All weathers. Bike feels great, well balanced, and there's not much I can't squeeze through that I could have made on my old CB500.

52 miles round trip every day form Surrey into central London (Covent Garden).

Super comfy, love every second I'm on it.

Filtering in town is NOT a problem! I've come from 650 singles so am used to squeezing though and once you get used to your GS, you'll find that you rarely get stopped from filtering where a smaller bike might have fit thorough.

In fact due to the mirror and handlebar height, I actually find I fit through on my GS where I may not have on a smaller bike!

It's perfectly fine in town.

:rob Sold my luverly GS1150 for a GS1150 Adventure..40 miles a day to commute
in all weathers...even took it out in the snow today. A truly monumental bike.
I love her alot.:mmmm

Round trip 50 miles a day, more in the summer (Long way home).
Width fine with just the topcase, need to be careful with the panniers, although no wider than the bars the height is different and just about right to take out mirrors on the way past.

This seems to upset 4 wheeled commuter, can't think why:nenau

Daily 70 mile round trip, either town - A/B road heaven - city; or town - trunk road drudgery - city. All weathers, all year. The bike's brilliant.

most days !!

Commute most days to work on 1150gs great fun, often 'have' to take a longer route home though !! (for fun !)
BUT bear in mind uses lots more juice if short journeys rather than decent miles, don't start with lights on as batteries can suffer with lots of starts and not much time riding, commuted for 25 years on bikes, last 6 years on a guzzi 1100 sport !! not the most practical but fun !
enjoy !!:thumb2

60 mile round trip into Aberdeen, country road (potholed A944) most of the way, then filtering through the city traffic. Bike is ideal for commuting and with the riding position you can see for miles. Filtering not been so much of a problem even with fully loaded panniers. Always get home in a good mood even after a bad day. :)

I've only recently acquired a GS for my all-year round commute. I do between 70-120 miles each day and the bike has been a revelation. I was anticipating it being comfortable with a decent carrying capacity, but didn't realise how much fun it would be to ride. I frequently take "the long way home" (sic) just for the ride!
