Was dropping off a spare subframe to be strengthened and spotted a reasonably well sorted xChallenge. You don't see them everyday so stopped to take a look.

Looks like it's got a rear disc protector, chain guide, same kriega fork protectors as me, Leo vince can, TT bash plate and rack and homemade pannier rails.

The Mitas E07s looked nice. Think I'll go for a pair of them for my next tour.

Not sure on the pannier rails, they look like they place a lot of strain on the mounting bolts.

It's mine, not a TT sump guard but one of them German ones. The pannier rails aren't finished yet, got to put a brace around the back. I can recommend the E07, haven't used them off road but better than the k60 on road. I presume you were at Chris's?

Ah cool. Spoke to a girl from your office, she seems to like the bike. Did you make the pannier rails yourself or did you use someone local?

Yeah I was at Chris' he seems like a good guy. We talked through the subframe and he shared his thoughts on it. Price is reasonable too.

Anyway, was just curious since you don't seem them often and your X looks pretty well sorted. Hope you don't mind the photo, I did make sure to blank out the plate and not post any additional location details.

Not at all. A guy on ABR made the hoops and I made the mounting points and welded them up. The receptionist did say when I got back in the office someone was asking about it. It's had a lot done to it since I got it as it was an x BMW off road bike. Stuck a new clutch in the other week plus a 101 other things.

That was the idea bendy to be honest, not big boxes going on. I have put a bar across the back now as well which also supports the number plate as well.

Yeah without a bar across the back or an attachment to the subframe (one or the other or both will do) they will fold in or destroy the mounts on first contact. Those M4 aluminium mounts are very very weak.

The bar I've fitted is 8mm rod. I will probably just use a giant loop so they are their just as stand offs really or a rotapax at most.
