who does your breakdown cover

just wondering where is the best place to get breakdown cover for the bike (here comes the 1200 jokes)
am i as well to go back to the bmw dealer or is there a better (read cheaper) option,
i dont mean warranty just a tow home or to dealer service

From my investigations.....

Carole Nash include it, Adelaide do to .... AFAIK
Quinn exclude it, no option.
Dunno 'bout Aon (think they give it)
Ye can buy it from AA, but it'll cost you (€a ton or more, and the only roadside assistance you get is for a car). But not from RAC.
None of the Nordie companys want to know if your not living there.

Just finishing a year with Quinn, and its absence is one thing that will make me leave them..................well, that and the apocryphal stories about their cover and their , eh, odd, customer service! But so far, no claims, so that's insurance for you!

Let us know how you get on .............. its very relevent IMHO (but I ride a 1150 )

All my company vehicles and my car are on with RAC.

Bike insured with eBike so that is covered by RAC too

Aon provide it as part of their bike policy. It works as well, brought my bike home from Spain at no charge.

Get it included with my ebike policy (as Ming mentioned its through the RAC) of course as I have Airheads and an 1150 its never been used

I have just taken AA cover both wife and myself car and bike and personal so it covers other vehicles,roadside and relay £97 compared to renewal on BMW (well it just doesn't compare) they are quoting they can now repair a reasonable amount on bikes at roadside.Mine is mainly for relay.

think it was something like 120 or 140 euro for the recovery through duffys last year.
i got my moneys worth in france even though they left me in the heat (42 degrees that day)
might ring duffys tomorrow as i am insured on bikes through work with no breakdown cover.
i guess nearly everyone has it through there insurance or does not bother
is that a fair speak

AA covers you in/on all vehicle's, even if your a passenger in a vehicle not belonging to you. The only exception to this is for commercial vehicles.

The AA have come to my assistance twice on motorcycles years ago...but have never had to call them out for the GS yet .

Don't know why I'm still am an AA member (habit I suppose), as my bikes are insured with Carole Nash and breakdown cover is included.

I've had mine with NCI vehicle rescue for a good few years now after being caught out by the 'included in our insurance' ploy. You need to read them carefully as mine only recovered you the first 10 miles, then there was a per mile charge. Not good.

I've only needed NCI once (not for my 1150, obviously) and they were fine. There's various options, including for tin boxes and they seem to undercut AA / Rac on price. They used to always send a bike specialist too, but that doesn't seem to be mentioned on the website now.

I've been with the AA for a few years and they've been good to assist quite a few times, be it bike or car problem. The assist policy means they'll bring you home and they cover ROI too.
