I know there were one or more guys on here who gutted surplus catalytic converters to save weight, bypass buying a Y-Piece or any other reason.

What were the outcomes.
My brother has an 1150GS and bought a raucus Leo Vince pipe for it, but still has the cat on, now he can go the expensive Y-piec route, get a Y-piece made up, like I did years ago, or maybe gutting a surplus Cat Converter is an option, and then welding it up again.
What are the opinions and experiences here on gutting and fitting one of these ???
