Who intends keeping their GS

2007 gs I've done all the changes to it I think it needs, seat, screen, exhaust etc, apart from Hilltop and new suspension (thanks to JB and his Wilbers treasure thread).
It's a keeper and will probably be my last bike if it lasts long enough.

Picked up my new (to me) 2016 GS Triple Black last summer. Had 1500 miles on it and now there's a touch over 10K miles. Just back from 2 weeks in Europe and a weekend blasting around Leenane with some of the dodgier members on here!

Bike has performed faultlessly since day 1. It's the perfect 2up + luggage touring tool and it'll also enjoy a decent hoon when ye want. Can't think of what I'd be replacing it with that would tick all those boxes, especially without a serious bit of a financial outlay.

So she's here to stay for a good while at least. If I get the itch for more sparkles/power/bling (and win a few bob on the lotto) then maybe a change will happen, but for now I'm well settled on a bike that does everything I need (and even makes me look like a better rider! ).

Still have the SV though...she's going nowhere too!

The Bandit 1250 Streetfighter (2010) is a great Summer naked hooning around bike. Cheap as chips to run and maintain, absolutely back to basics bike, so I'll be keeping that as well.

yes, they are. modern day classic... not quite your z900 yet... but they will go the same way

Being retired dictates that I’m unlikely to change my bike (‘16 LC GS) anytime soon so I intend getting to know it as thoroughly as possible and doing my own servicing as far as I can within my limitations.

That's a scam.. I do my own servicing also.. and have bought oil filters and air filters from BMW who are more than willing to sell them to me... but on any issue being discussed with BMW about the bike, the firstthing they ask is if it's had a full BMW service history?.. If I tell them I did the last service, things are not covered or brought into question?.. Why?.. who's to say only BMW can service the bikes correctly?.. From what I've seen of main dealer servicing in the past, is the main reason I do it myself!!

Could they successfully argue that their version of a GS911 might have prevented a minor issue becoming a big warranty claim if your bike had been serviced via the dealer network with a potential problem been identified earlier?

ps, I do have a GS911 which (later) correctly identified my numptiness with "super seal" connectors as I waited for the recovery truck...

It was serviced by BMW right up to the point of the complaint (noise on RHS head caused by the de-compression thing.. known issue).. and now because I've changed the oil at 4500 miles as I was off on a longish trip, they will have to see what BM say... TBH it's out of warrenty.. but they could help out?

If it hadn't been for the shit ABS system on my '04 I probably would still be riding that instead of trading it for my '08 GSA which is a keeper.

90th GSA TC bought in September 13. It took me to Tibet and Thailand with not even a puncture. Rear mud guard snapped off on crappy Kazak so called roads as expected but that's it. It is sentimental tosh but I am now attached to it so unlikely to let it go...

I hope to! I haven't picked mine up yet from Bahnstormer in Farringdon. I enjoyed the test rides but we both felt (wifey) the seats aren't as comfy as they look and for such a big bike you do sit close together.
My other ride is a Mk1 Kawasaki Versys 1000 with Maxton suspension, full exhaust and a Hilltop tune 40K aand still going strong so if my GSA does that I'll be very happy...........unless I test ride the new one.
