Who knew ? (Fortnine)

Good old Ryan

K100RS was my first big motorcycle , but it was a long time ago, so I’d forgotten how good it was and at the time I knew little to compare it with .

Just wait for Steptoe to pop in with some half million mile customer stories.

Enjoyed that, thanks. Loved my K100RS, followed some years and bikes later by a K75S, never liked that, though sooo many BMW-types say it's not one to have. Also owned a K1100LT, that was a weighty beast. Always fancied a K1100RS mind...

My second big bike was a K100RS SE in pearl white. The 8 valve model, 1986 on a D plate if I recall. I liked it for the torquey power delivery but I could never adjust the wind buffeting out of the screen at motorway speeds. Traded it in for a K1100LT, an ex Humberside Police bike that got T-boned with very little mileage on and disposed of. Returned it to civilian spec and did many thousands of miles touring on it. Big heavy thing that was.

There is a guy in Italy with a K1200S that is was at about 6/700k kilometres last time I checked, and it was quite a few years ago.

Seen his bike a couple of times because the guy on the right in the first pic, Alberto, is my mech in Italy as well.

A couple of 300k +mile K75 models. Not any K100. The engine output shaft is riveted together and the rivets spread and finally give, requiring the engine to be split. Early K100 engine had 8 rivets, the very last K100 16valve and K 1100 had 12 rivets. The K75 had a solid one piece output shaft. I still have a K100RS 16v , K1100LT and K100RS special edition. Plus a few 1000cc engines, and a k75 engine with only 800 miles 😄

a friend had a 75s , i had an rg5 , rode his 75 , when asked for my opinion ....i wanted to change the shape of the clutch lever , move the g/change down half a spline , sticky tyres and ......i would have one. great bike .

I recently acquired a K75 to scratch a long overdue itch, and despite a couple of niggles it's now
running nice. Furthermore, I have the RT version which is a bonus in the colder weather on my
aching bones.
I've started venturing further from home in my 'testing' period of a fuel tank venting problem plus
a low fuel warning light issue.
I'm still not sure how much I have in the tank when the fuel light illuminates but believe it's about
25 miles. I also calculated that it returns 55 mpg despite doing motorway speeds, and not sparing
the horses on A and B roads.
What a great bike that I should have bought years ago. The one that got away.

That sounds like a lot of fun, enjoy it!

Thanks. It surprised me how much torque it has. This coupled with its lightish weight, ease of handling and planted feel at speed makes it a great middleweight all-rounder. Middleweights are the way forward with me now and this doesn't disappoint.

Here’s my K75RT. Tried to sell it on here a couple of times but no luck. Seems they go for next to nothing. It’s a keeper now.
I have the City Cases for it and it’s perfect for touring.
Only 68,000 on the clock so it will see me out.
