i want to replace the spokes on the rims of my 84 r80st with stainless spokes.
after asking some advice on the air head section i think i might leave the job to an expert
is there a so called expert on these shores that could do a wheel rebuild
thanks in advance for any help

There's been a few threads about this on Biker.ie and if I remeber correctly, there's a few people in dubland doing it. I know for sure that John Meehan in CB motorcycles does it. As for other Cork based mechanics, I'd only be speculating.

wheels

there's a small motorcycle repair/sales business on Dorset st beside the Bridge at Whitworth Road. a colleague of mine is having some rebuilt there at present. He's not cheap:eek
I've been meaning to call in and ask if He'll true my front if I change the spokes and what he'd charge:augie Well, if you don't ask.............

back to front

I spoke to the guy in Dorset Street. He won't touch GS wheels because they are back to front:confused:
He means the nipples are on the hub not the rim. Says you have to think backwards and they are more difficult to work on.

So...contact details for Mr Bell in Finaghy?

How about a bit of DIY

very interesting post but i was talking to a friend whose father has a collection of about 20 airhead bikes,he only lives 2 miles from me.
after asking him today he said he has a gig made for the wheels on his g/s and will be happy to do my wheels for me so problem solved :thumb:thumb

that's only your problem solved:(

I wonder if the nice man could be talked into showing the rest of us how it's done. I know there are lots of how tos on the web, but there's nothing like seeing it in the flesh:augie

Sounds like the wheelwright is backwards.... :nenau Maybe the local pedal cycle shop can help....Not Halferds etc but a shop that actually builds them.
