Hello All, :beerjug:
Passed my bike test 1year ago.
As i'm a big lad, 6ft 8inch tall and 18stone bike choice was limited. I opted for a 2001 1150gs it was a little intimadating at first, larger due to the weight, but I have grown to love it, and as my skills and confidence grow I am starting to make some mod's to make it suit my build a little better than stock.

I have a couple of questions which must have come up before, and would be grateful if members of this great site would point me in the right direction.

1) I have fitted 35mm bar risers from Wunderlich, there is plenty of slack in all the wires and cables, with the exception of the front brake line, I want to change it to a longer one as it is definately under strain. Anyone know any suppliers? part numbers etc.

2) Has anyone fitted Fastway pegs on 'lowboy' setting together with a Wunderlich footpeg lowering kit? I know this will significantly reduce ground clearance, but I don't ride offroad and my cornering lean angles won't trouble them at the moment.

I have just signed up today as a 'Tosser' and am discovering all the extra areas of an already great site. If you are a tall rider it would be good to know what mod's you have made.

Okay let the piss taking commence. :bounce1

HEL will make you a S/S braided top hose ( and fittings) in any length you require.

any good bike shop can make you a hose up, or get you the parts to do your own, its a piece of p*ss to do

I'm one of the tall ones. mods are. bar risers. and Higher seat together with an MRA vario screen. seat height is now 37" and means I didnt have to lower the pegs. however if I did go down that route I would probably opt for the 'Migsel pegs' rather than the Fastways.

But for me the higher seat was all i needed. i'm 6'5

I managed to find and win a Touratech XXhigh on ebay that had been further modified by its previous owner. But it still not be any problem having your original seat modified to match and suit YOU. Tony Archer in Huddersfield is probably your best bet.:thumb

Brake Lines

Wunderlich themselves do longer brake lines - although you could probably have them made up elsewhere cheaper!

R1150GS Non-ABS: Part No 8160903 - Approx £113.00
R1150GS With ABS / Integral ABS: Part No 8160902 - Approx £46.00

I would suggest you replace the entire brake line system not just the upper. the extra cost isn't huge and its a case of 'fit and forget'

either HEL or GOODRICH. (if goodrich - opt for S/S fittings - these are standard from HEL - the price differential between the two makers is pennies)

New brake fluid and the brakes will be good for the next two years. (pads excepted)

OK there's nothing wrong with just replacing one part of the system. But seems to me almost like doing half a job. (it will also add value to your bike)
