Who the hell are Spamhaus

http://www.spamhaus.org/ are stopping me sending emails to my office in Ireland from here in Spain.
What are they about and how do i grt rid of them?

Any help appriciated.

I had something like this once. I think Spamhaus basically intercept the email traffic on behalf of your Irish company and if the IP address you are using in Spain is known for SPAM, then that IP address will be blacklisted/blocked.

Sometimes you will need to contact the intended recipient of your emails. Here is a link to sort out unblocking:

Good luck

SPAMHAUS is a service used to intercept spam mails from hitting industry email servers.

They have had a number of messages from your IP or email account which have been classed as spam - If they have too many they then reject all mail from you.

On the bounced messages back, it should give instructions on how to get the spam filter lifted. OR shout at your IT team at your employer and say you cannot do any work until this is sorted.

It would be worth running a complete virus scan on your workstation using an up to date scanner (AVG or Malwarebytes), both of which have free downloads on their respective websites.

Thanks, its my company.
I am on a comunity LAN connection here in Spain.
I have up to date Norton Internet security.
I can send emails but not through my Microsoft Outlook Office 2003

The problem is that a domain, mailserver or ip address you are using has been used for spam and has been put on a blacklist at Spamhaus. Many companies/ISPs use this list for identifying spam.

There is a procedure on the Spamhouse website for getting yourself or your domain or ISP off the list.

Usually it fixes itself in hours/days.

We had a problem once where wanadoo.fr was put on a SpamCop blacklist - this blocked about 80% of French internet user's email

If you are sharing a connection it could be that someone else on the same connection is either sending spam or more likely has a machine with a virus that is sending loads of spam and that has got your IP on a blacklist.

The term "your IP" may well relate to the shared connection, most likely you all get a private IP address (This is a "local one" that cannot get to the internet directly) and the shared connection has the "true" internet address - a bit like if you lived with others in a house 1 address for several people.

Good luck, getting of these lists can be a real hassle, you may also find you are on others!

An easier fix is to get your company to use a smart host at the ISP, this way all mail goes out from the ISP address and will be far less likely to have such issues.

Best thing (for future) is to setup a VPN service at the office then you can make a VPN connection and your emails will appear to come from your office and not be blocked.

You could also through a VPN deposit files directly on a machine in the office.
