I'd like to kick him/her square in the crotch! After my first full days ride on a stock GSA in about 15 years I've come to the conclusion they must have been a gelded midget or a short arse women, didn't ride it fer long and were possibly drunk! I'd forgotten just how horrendous that stock seat is, after an hour it feels like someone is tightening your pants from behind resulting in seriously constricted wedding tackle. And that screen! It's about as much use as tits on a bull for a person of average height, I now remember why I took the fecker off in the end before I got a vario. For a bike designed to cover big distances those two critical components are so shit it's almost funny.

it's all about the accessories.... if they made it perfect they'd have nowt to screw you for later on.... create the desire, get the order.... create the accessories to maintain the lifestyle of the product....

I get that and understand why a stock bike can be adorned with a few grands worth of BM badged unescessary bling and farkle but
A) those two components are the difference between comfortable competent cruising or distracting uncomfortable cruising so ruin an otherwise great bike
B) I didn't think BM did aftermarket seats and screens. I have replaced those two components on all my previous oilheads but was quite shocked re-visiting a stock bike how terrible they make the riding experience, especially at speed (screen) and on undulating roads (ball squeezing seat) compared to a bike with a Vario and Sargent seats. Whoever signed the stock Items off must have been either off their tits or a sadist.

Tester possible has shares in Sargent seats.

I found that the Rockstar had the worst ever stock seat. There was a big lump just where your balls needed to be.

I was told a good few years ago by some German BMW riders that Brits have problems with BMW seats because quote 'You do not have fat German #rses', so it is our fault

I fitted tobinators to my first 1150, you are right, they are an improvement but depending on which lid I was wearing i found I sometimes needed the clip on TT extender to stop buffeting and they were a bit of a faff to get set up right from memory??? Ceebaileys barn door esq screen with tobinators was arguably the best for weather protection and wind noise but you looked through it rather than over it, it was fookin huge and looked a bit weird. MSA Vario seemed to provide the sweet spot for me .
Re seat, I tried asexond hand corbin before a sargent and that was obviously designed with arses the size of a bin lid in mind. It didnt squash my nuts but it was huge!

I did about 75k on mine; can't say I recall any particular issues, although the seat vinyl did de-laminate at one stage, which required it to be replaced (with some of the internal foam)

I have a Corbin fir both my GS and RT - any ride over 100 miles and on goes the Corbin.

I must have German balls. Feels ok to me on a 650 mile day. You lot must be faires 🤣

It took 20 minutes for me to ride home after picking my GS Adv up - and I had decided that the seat would have to go with 15 minutes to spare...

I have a Bill Mayer seat, which is truly an all-day one, fitted to a GS-Lite rear rack. After a lot of trial and error, I found the perfect screen - an MRA with Tobinators.

In the latest news, BMW have decided to give a new free gift with every boxer sold.....it's a new innovation called "Bavarian Boxers" for....errr Bavarian Boxers?
