Who would go out and buy another 1200gs...please be honest.

Yes, I will deffo have another, i've already started to save for the next 1200GS.

12,500mls on this one, its always got me home (and its a yellow one!!!), a few problems have developed over the winter, mostly cosmetic, all have been sorted by BMW's great warrantee with no questions asked. A proper real world bike in all weathers.

What other bike could replace the GS??? Any suggestions???

Triumph Tigers seem OK, but not too good in the finish department, a bit heavy though, they seem a reasonable road bike (then again there's lots of good road bikes) but I've never seen one down a green lane yet!

KTM adv also seem OK, but the styling do'nt float me boat.

Unless somebody comes up with a better suggestion it will be another 1200gs

Regards Shep

If it was stolen or smashed, I would buy another one without hesitation. Had it just over a year, and done 20,000 km.

Downsides:
bit of buffetting from the screen
It was so bad I put a Laminar Lip on mine. Removes the worst of the buffeting for a reasonable cost.
heavy getting it onto the stand
There should be a lift handle. I added the one from Wunderlich, which does make it slightly easier to get on the stand.
slow to fill the fuel tank to the top
First, remove the rubber extension from the filler neck. Then, if you still need to fill it faster, drill a hole in the side of the filler neck to let the air escape faster when filling. Also to make the filler more accessible it is possible to turn the filler cap through 180degrees so it opens to the back instead of the front of the bike.

Just wondering about all you people in 1200gs land if you would buy one straight away again, or maybe wish you had waited a year or so first. Please be honest in your answers as I believe it is a valid question. Thank you, Ricky.

Best bike ever. I would buy one right away.

I definately would not want to buy another one.....
Only because I would never want to get rid of this one !!!
Maybe if I was forced to by theft or damage, then thewre would be absolutely no hesitation in getting another GS12

Definately buy another BM, great bike and when and if the GSA12 shows it head, will probably buy one. :D

Although after having a go on my brothers K12S. :D :D :D :D

I don`t think I`ll have another as I like to try other bikes, saying that though I`ll probably keep this for a few years.

I DO like the new Triumph Sprint ST :D

Probably!

Did 2,400 miles last week on my bumble bee (Yellow & Black).

Only problems were the freezing up of the starter button and indicators whilst near Wick.

Parts of me froze up too!

Brilliant bike but, as I do almost entirely on road use, I might go for the more touring based bike next time.

It loosened up nicely as the week progressed.

YESSSSSSS

500 miles in three weeks and it's the best bike I've ever ridden. Love it to bits and wouldn't hesitate to recommend one!

Cheers!

Although I wouldn't buy exactly the same again, I'll keep this one a good while.
Love it, but tend to "have a change" when I get a new bike....doesn't mean I won't have a 2009 R1600GS....

....but I currently cannot imagine what would replace "her".............

Thanks lads for your answers. It is refreshing to hear some positive feedback about the 12, as all I have read has been mostly negative. Will probably keep my 03 1150 another year and then trade up for a 12. Thanks again, Ricky.:)

Sorry to be boring but I'm the same. I'd definately buy another.

If this one remains reliable then, definately yes, I would buy another. I love the comfort, handling, power, and the Jap like gearbox. If it isn't reliable then definately not. It could be the best bike in the world but, if it doesn't start or is unreliable in anyway then it's useless to me.

I'd maybe look at the brand new model Tiger which, I think, comes out next year, KTM Adv or a Honda, if they see fit to replace the Africa Twin with a real duel purpose bike.

Arghh! Six times back to the dealer (3 of these on a recovery truck). Around the world? More like a dealer to dealer tour! Yes, its a great bike but mines a dog. I would by another but only as it would be 12 months on from their release. But definately not from Mill BMW (Sunderland).

Would I buy a new one

Yes now done 9600 miles minor problems all fixed by excellent dealers (Rainbow).

Best bike owned to date.
