Whoopee, off to Morocco

Hi Paul
Good luck with the leg. Sounds like a reasonable timetable, the trip being a week and a half after your plaster's removed. I hope that goes ok for you.
It's good to have another rider with some previous Moroccan experience too, in addition to the infectious enthusiasm of Dave Hall, (he really ought to be in sales & marketing).
Take care.
Geoff

Nice to see that a decisions been made on this one and that you are all off.

Geoff, dont stress about the offroad stuff, sounds like you're going to be on the right trip, hopefully with only a handful of you, you can relax and take things at your own pace without feeling the (self-impossed) pressure of a large group.

I've met Dave a couple of times, he's a top bloke and I'm sure he'll see you though, just relax and listen to the tips you get given and you'll be fine

servicing, bang the miles on and get it serviced early, you can enjoy the trip then without stressing about not running over... that or pull the speedo cable

PDiddy, sounds like you might have been on the same course as the guy I bumped into in Cheltenham... take it easy on that ankle and have fun with the KTM :D

I was indeed that man - :thumb First broken bone in 15 years of riding off road -

PDiddy.....serious suggestion here, not taking the piss, but before you go , get a set of fork seals for the Katoomer and carry them with you on the road- they're small and cheap and light and it's the only surefire way of making certain yours don't fail on the trip.

DAMHIK ;)

There is a possibility that I may be able to join you guys on the tour. But it all depends on how I do with the preparation for a major event that I'm involved with, which starts at the same time as the tour leaves.

If I don't turn up, have a great tour, you will be in capable hands.

Roy.

LiquidLan - thanks for the encouraging/supportive comments. I really am looking forward to the trip, the nervousness is fading, helped by comments like yours. Cheers :beerjug:

Blue Sweeper - 'hope you make it. Having two nannies, sorry 'tour leaders', would be brilliant. Just kidding, good luck with your event prep.

Cheers all, five weeks and counting, :JB
Geoff

Paperwork from WofBMW arrived today guys.
Brilliant, now it really feels like we're going.
Incidentally, outgoing ferry is from Plymouth but return is into Portsmouth. I guessed that would be the case, having looked at Brittany Ferries site/itinerary some time ago.
Downside for me is arriving in the UK at 5pm instead of 10:30am, which, realistically, means a night in a hotel before riding home to the Peak District. Oh well ...hey ho.
Just received a throttle potentiometer guard from Rugged Roads. Ordered Sunday, delivered this morning. Time to get the tools out.
Must try to stop being so excited! I'm beginning to compete with my 9 month old lab :bounce1:bounce1:bounce1
Cheers all, :beerjug:

Wish I was coming on this trip with you all, maybe next year. (more time then)

Yeah, why do I only get the 2 xx? Probably for taking the wee out of Dave's compressor which will be fine for you guys as long as you're only blowing up party balloons and one of you have an Audi to run it off due to it's special canbus thingy that stops it working on BMs:mmmm

Ye rob, I think dad had a head start with that tyre, it was already up and I also think it was letting air out as it tryed to put a bit in :augie

I did also think the air gauge was a bit tempermental, could be 40 psi or 300 psi

I hope you guys have a blast, im sure my dad will look after you all :rob

Geoff,

When do you sail?

I am setting off this Saturday, catching ferry from Plymouth on Sunday to Santander. Then on to Morocco, though not with World of BMW

Small world, as we both live in Hayfield!

Hi Sealion
It's gonna be the same boat as you; Sunday at 4pm. As far as I know, there are only 2 sailings a week; 1 each from Portsmouth and Plymouth. We're returning to Portsmouth on 18th Oct.
How come we've never met? I live on Wood Gardens.
Catch up with us on the boat if you get chance. I've a red 58 plate GSA and I'll be wearing a dark green and grey Revit suit and a silver Arai Tour X.
Good to hear from you.
Have a great trip.
By the way, you're not travelling with a guy called Chris from Little Hayfield are you? He's a Harley rider. Linda in the Post Office said he's off to Morocco this weekend too. I don't know him either, (Billy no mates - that's me!).
Cheers
Geoff

Geoff,

Thats me! (Ex GSer)

We have met, Catherine (postie) and myself were briefly in the Mountain Rescue, under your command. I'll look out for you on the boat.:thumb

Ok Chris. Now I remember. I seem to recall that last time I met you out on the hill I failed to recognise you. Apologies! I'll look out for you on the boat.
Have a safe journey to Plymouth. I'm travelling down on Sunday with Hermannator (see above) also on a GSA.
Give my regards to Catherine.
Cheers :beerjug:

Just thought I ought to tidy this thread up with a, perhaps, final note.
All of us arrived back in the UK last Tuesday, 13th Oct. All in one piece including, more or less, the bikes.
What an experience! Thanks to all involved for the company and conviviality. I certainly wouldn't have achieved what I did without your assistance, especially Dave's!
Myself and my precious bike came back absolutely filthy from road grime and a few, inconsequential, drops in Moroccan mud and sand ... forgiveable I think. And I was so proud of the magnificent, mucky machine ... and myself.
Unless one of my fellow travellers beats me to it, (feel free folks), a ride report will follow, just as soon as I get time to write and select suitable photos (came back with lots).
For now, just one thought ... go to Morocco!
Ride safe.
Geoff
