The weather's been so nice since Christmas (for Mid-Winter in North Yorkshire) that I've been itching to get a couple of hours of quality time with a mo'sickle.

The Panto's still on in York, and the girls needed a couple of hours to choose outfits:nenau, so I got to go play in some light mud, on some wet roads and through some splashy puddles: Bliss! :D :bounce1

Has anyone else already been air-heading in 2017's winter (or even 2017's summer for the Southern-Hemispherists:thumb)?

Jeepers. That bike looks astonishingly clean considering it's been along a muddy rutted track.

It didn't by the time I had to get all Karcher on it's muddy little mono-butt when we got home! :D

Tho to be fair, it probably gained as much filth from the rural 'roads' as the rutty bits.:blast

ive been out today testing my contact lenses.....its weird being able to ride in the rain and breath at the same time...

Been out loads, why not? :nenau

We had friends and family with us for most of the hols, so (although I probably wouldn't have been missed:D), I would have been considered thoroughly un-mutual had I sneaked out to play motorbikes when I should have been being sociable.:blagblah

It was all very nice, but I couldn't help thinking that the bikes must have felt a bit neglected, so when I did get some chances I grabbed a little quality garage-time.;)

was out new years day by proxy, very fucking cold, out again today in the misty rain, not so cold

It was a little misty up here tonight, so York looked lovely and atmospheric. I bought Karen a 'Whistles' dress just before they closed tonight, which will mean she cannot complain when I buy myself a new heated jacket in the morning! :D

(assuming Infinity Motorcycles is open).

Cold days will hence be a thing of the past

Didn't go out today but two full days off road over the holiday and almost every day on the road even if it was only into town

Went out between Xmas and New Year up to Hartside Cafe up near Penrith. 1.5 degrees but highly enjoyable! :)

Our problem is the reverse, 42C and high humidity.
Been taking the water cooled F650 Funduro as it copes better with the heat, but I might stick a bit masking tape over the oil temp and pressure gauge on the G/S - blissful ignorance seems to be the usual way of coping with high temps and low pressure on these things!

Ooooh, that sounds a bit warm and sticky; I'm not sure I've ever ridden a bike when it's been that warm 'n damp. It was bad enough riding Disneyland's roller coasters in those conditions, and I'd put ice in my camelback!:D:jager

Good stuff!:thumb2

I bet Gloucestershire's a useful bit warmer than here much of the year, but I can't imagine January in any part of the UK is considered a prime bikin' time. Bikes make us do the daftest things tho.:D

Ahh fair enough - We managed to get away with visitors on only one day this Christmas/new year - and it was all the better for it. I shall be pushing for the same next time.

Exactly the way to do it - that tends to be my MO as well. Trouble is when you buy another bike it gets really expensive

Approx 400kms in 37 C, about 30% dirt on my R100GS that I put on the road just before Xmas. Running A D606 front and a MT-09 rear so a bit vague on the tar:eek: It was a shake down ride and a couple of probs appeared - steering head bearings loosened, they are only 10K old so tightened them but also ordered new ones. Lost a rear indicator, apparently the rubber stem was further gone than I thought (shit, they are expensive :eek). Throttle a wee bit stiff, cleaned, lubed and ordered lighter springs. Indicator switch a bit iffy, diassembled and cleaned but pretty worn. All problems resolved (I'll keep an eye on the steering head and maybe buy new switch gear). Calculated fuel range at approx. 350kms. Another similar run this Sunday, maybe 500kms and more dirt. Forecast says 34C and sunny.
