First of all, I have an LC ordered, replacing my 04 GS. With luck it will be mine by mid April.
I, as with most of you here have been reading with great anticipation and interest all I can on the new bike.
I have serious concerns regarding all of the electronic assistance modes that are being promoted as "advancements". What is my brain supposed to do when all of those years of training and instinctive behaviour gets overridden by technology? What do I do when conditions change? Am I to charge on, knowing that I will be taken care of by ASC, ETC or whatever. Controlling a motorcycle is a skill that we have honed over our riding lifetimes. Is it going to be like someone grabbing the wheel while you're driving? ABS I agree with, but someone else controlling the throttle--no. That is why my bike will have standard suspension and controls, letting me decide what goes on.

You could say the same about who is driving the car, driving the truck, flying the Airbus etc etc. Whether you like it or not, it's the way things are:thumb

I recall lots of peeps saying exactly the same about ABS when it first appeared on bikes (some still do) so how come ABS is ok but Traction Control isn't?

If you're worried, cancel your order.:comfort This bike is the future, and all others will follow, as they always do:rolleyes::rob

Agreed, but how do you adapt to a contantly changing computer. Half the fun of a new bike is working out how to control it skillfully not vice-versa.

Take it from me, reading the manual is enough, I have a engineering degree!

The rest is easy!!!

As nutty says, "This is, the future". Embrace it - corners and overtakes - the grin factor will, hurt!

not everyone has a lifetime of skill to fall back on & doesn't your new bike have fly by wire throttle?

anyway, a bike with all those electronic aids, you can ride like a twat and you'll never crash. what's not to like? :thumb2

I would have guessed whoever wrote this that late was pissed when they wrote it as most of it is bollox:blast but I just noticed your in Oz so that can't be your excuse. I've got a lovely Commando for sale if it's basic you want:thumb a little too far to travel though, especially on one of those fancy flying things:rolleyes:

Dont trust those fancy flying things either, the hard/software is breeding a generation of pilots who lack the "stick and rudder" skills of their forefathers.

Im all for tech but not to the detriment of core skills be it flying, riding whatever.

Oh and cant you turn them of on the new bike ??
