why are these so good on fuel ?

ok. so why is the superdream 'bad' then

no abs or emission crap

diesel cars are ok until the air mass meter, fuel pump, dual mass flywheel, injectors, turbo or cylinder head screw up.

then you lose all the cash you have saved.

been there, done it.

got a petrol car now

Well don't buy a modern diesel car. They now try to make diesel engines perform the same as a petrol engine for all the new diesel drivers. And lost all the old benefits

My old citroen BX diesel estate run for 100s of thousands of miles without any faults.
And my old diesel merc i've just sold with 286K miles on the clock, and it cost me nothing in the 7 years i owned it.

But it is diesel car. Is your consumption based on the readings from the trip computer or from brimming the tank and working it out the old fashioned way?

Do you know what Bob, I still haven't run the tank empty or low enough to fill again after brimming it. The computer is giving me a 700+ mile range. :D

I'll let you know in a months time.

and dont forget, you dont need to brim it if you just keep a record of fuel used.
after a few months, the odd tank full wont make any real difference.

Agree about the old PSA 1.7/1.9 diesel very good power unit

Dont do enough miles to justify a diesel car (unlike you, Mike - maybe its lack of use that causes the problems :nenau)

did Welshpool to Buckingham in 110 mins on wednesday on RT.

very comfortable, very impressive:thumb

I buy my diesel from a friend who has a huge fleet of dustcarts. Wholesale price ;), and is the reason why i've run diesel cars for more than 20 years . But it means i don't get detailed info from a pump like most motorists. And no, it's not red diesel, it's the same diesel as you get from any filling station.

I have to wait until my tank is nearly empty and needs refilling to get some idea from the tanks capacity, but i usually pop in and fill up every week regardless of how much i need. So for now i'm just going by the cars fuel computer.

Inflating 1150 tyres

Can anyone suggest the best way of inflating tyres, I bought one of those Michelin tyre pumps (looks like a flying saucer) absolutely hopeless, then I tried one of those cycling stirup pumps, again no good. What do others use as I think correct tyre preasure are vital. thanks for any answers duncan miller

10 GSA 2 up panniers and top box, normal brisk riding.
Doing it the old fashoned way filled the tank and 0 the trip.
Reserve light on computer says 60km to go:
tank took: 24.81L so there must have been 7L left in there if its a 33L capacity.
382.6km ridden = 43.56 mpg
About 10mpg less than my K1200GT
Strangly everything on the computer shows KM and Liters but the economy is in MPG
By the way the MPG shown was 42

Get the readings Units changed to Imperial at Service time, whilst bike is hooked up to diagnostic computer, if you wish.

12/24 hour clock choice, tyre pressures in PSI if you prefer, assuming you have the monitors fitted.

Ambient temperature in Degrees F or C to choice.
