Is it because of the tank size? the height?
my other question is... can I raise my GS up to ADV height?
:bow

My "plain" GS has an ADV tank and looks better than an ADV :D

Adv suspension fits straight on. Bike leans like fuck on the sidestand though and centre stand doesnt lift wheel off the ground . :thumb2

Oh , and mine also looks better than an Adv . :D

Get an 1100, add an adventure tank and RT alloys and you have the best of them all.

Rear tyre looks a little square but I do like the look of that. Have you thought of getting the wheels sprayed black? Would look even better IMO:) Nice bike:thumb

the one piece seat helps.

that's why mine (siver non Adv) with a touratech enduro seat looks better than all of the above.

And if I was spending money on a change of shocks - I'd go for F&R Ohlins, the best lots of dosh I've spent on bike fetteling.

and as for alloy wheels on a GS:rob

I think mine looks the dogs danglies and it's no ADV

Dont tell me that the 1100 is the best, I know I know- just got rid of my 1100. :barf

If I put ADV shocks in it the side stand will be too short!? It already has a big 4cm lump of metal on it. Kind of club foot stand... and the bike leans way over!

Maybe its already jacked up!?

Maybe they look best with knarly tyres and dirty. :blast

Who cares what it looks like..So long as it gets me there... and back again thats all that matters to me.

I care, and I don't beleave you don't care what it looks like :D
Do you make any aesthetic judgements in you life? :hide

Occasionally - but, i'll let you into a secret. My first 1100 was bought after being given one as a courtesy bike in 1997. My first reaction when it was offered me was - IM NOT RIDING THAT THING!!!

A fortnight later I bought one. and for months afterwards laughed out loud every time I looked at it.

With this second one - my aesthetic judgement was to have it resprayed as I didn't like it being just another 'standard' colour. and thats about it.

it still makes me laugh sometimes though - the looks of the thing - with its ridiculous and wholly pointless beak. is hilarious.

You have to have a sense of humour to ride these bikes - but - i dont kid myself. its UGLY. But.. despite that does the job... hence me owning one for the past 16yrs.

and even that thought makes me laugh.

But.. even moreso since I saw the OTR price of the latest iteration. in real terms my first 1100 cost MORE than these latest water cooled thingies.

Loks like your investment in the below achieved the results

Ha - my 1100 had the 75th anniversary paint job - very pretty - like Quasimodo with nice painted nails. This 1150 has a huge dent and a baggy tank cover.
I was thinking of getting a can of paint out do a bit of ' Death Spray Custom '
That 1100 beak ! nasty.
But as you say the 1100 did the job all over Euro land last year.

Raising the height is not just an aesthetic thing... I don't like the feet flat on the floor and I do carry more crap on my bike than is sensible
:blagblah
