On friday i spent a few hours browsing web sites looking for parts So i start to ring round a few local dealers why cant they answer the phone i spent ages trying to get through to some Park Lane being the worse 30 secs to answer i guess main switchboard then 3 minutes waiting parts dept then to be told nobody there can you call back:spitfire Bahnstormer very good, Vines very good and had the parts i wanted:thumb2, J&S just rang and rang nobody did answer.Touratech must be doing very well as they dont my business they said they would call me back still nothing.

On the other hand if the place you are phoning deals with the public that can walk in off the street... they may have customers in the shop.

IMO there is nothing worse than going to somewhere in person to have someone ignore you to answer the phone:spitfire

1) customer rang 5 mins to closing time

2) working in the shop serving customers

3) on the shitpot!!!

4) eating , dinner ,tea, or fish n chips (usualy on a friday).

5) just not arsed to anser phone.

6) listening on the speaker phone to waiting customer calling them ****ers, then puting it on loud speeker so the rest of the shop workers can hear it.

7) hung up phone by mistake while you wer on hold.

8)they answerd the phone , told you they were looking for ye parts, then spend five mins on the shitpot while you are still hanging on in vain. Finish wiping there arse, then tell ye its out of stock.

9) trying to understand how to work a microfeish (bugger knows how ye spell it) because you want a part from 1976 and its not on computer.

10) all of the above while trying to appliy blackhead spot cream.....

feel free to add to the list.

Answering a phone ! It's not rocket science is it .

I've been waiting over a year for park lane to call me back ( never been the same since Sharon, User name on here PL2 and a half) left.

Left messages on their answerphone so many times without any acknowledgement that i now use Bahnstormer.

Bahnstormer is 40 miles from me, park lane 7 miles, Vines 20 miles. Go figure .

Bahnstormer has always had the parts i need in stock.:thumb

I had the same problem with SLM a while back, useless.

They couldn't get any staff apparently, however, they now tell me they are back on track. I did phone them a couple of weeks ago to ask about something and they answered fairly well but gave me the wrong advice:rolleyes:

I use Sherlocks, BGM or Steptoe. If BGM or Steptoe don't answer it's understandable as they work alone and may have their hands inside an engine.

Here`s a thought, a while ago I visited a local cloths shop and was being served when the phone rang, salesman `is it OK if I take this call` having got out the wrong side of the bed that morning I replied `Yes I do mind, just because the person on the other end of the phone can`t be bothered to get off there fat ar...e to come to the shop why the bl...y hell should they push in front of me`:spitfire
Judging by the shocked look on the salesmans face I don`t think he excpected my response, but he did`nt take the call!
But joking aside I feel I had a point!

You didn't say if that was a good or a bad thing, Steppers? ;)

In my current job people often think I don't answer the phone but in reality, they are at the end of a very long queue because the people who have managed to get through don't have any information about their broken machines so it takes 5 times as long as it should to deal with them grrrrrrrr.

Anyway, just goes to show, it's not just the motortrade, it's a global thing :)

On St Eptoes recommendation I phoned Bahnstormer for some bits today; bits that Park Lane didn't want to send out, sent out the wrong bits and then didn't want me to post them back.
Bahnstorners picked up the phone straight away, nothing was a problem even though it was just a few bits and bobs that I was after. I know who I'll be phoning again. But in the interest of balance, Park Lane did refund my credit card promptly.

I've found Park Lane and SLM to be really bad in the past. Same sort of thing, promise to ring back and never do. However, this morning I called Park Lane about a battery. Switchboard answered within a couple of rings, parts even quicker. Was I lucky or are they getting better?

My impression is that at Banhstormer whoever is free answers the phone , if the person is not available a message is past on .Good outfit .
