I do on occasions wave at other GS owners (only 1150 owners though )

I must admit, some of the most miserable bikers I see are the instructors, man they think they're GOD, it makes me laugh how superior they think they are?! If you're a friendly 'nodding' instructor then I do apologise for the above statement

The other 'crew' who crack me up is the 'jean brigade' on older tourers who wear jeans and wear sunglasses under their 15 year old white Nolan lids......no apologies for you I'm afraid

Generally nod to bikers and most nod back, including coppers on bikes.

Don't nod to scooters and least of all to the 'rev & rip' types.

I don't have a problem with HD riders, if you wave or nod to them, you normally get a return nod.

After all, we are all bikers and that's what counts....

It is funny how some riders of certain brands wave only at their own brands, while others wave at everyone. I noticed when I rode an RT, most people waved back. When I rode an LT, that number was cut in half. I guess that now that I ride a GS I can expect fewer waves/nods???
That's a relief actually, gives me more time to enjoy MY ride
One note though, it seems that in he US, some of the GS riders don't acknowledge other (BMW) riders either. Well.... on them

I ride a R1150GS, and I always acknowledge other 2 wheelers when I'm riding, irrespective of whether they are 50cc commuters or supersports riders. I am happy to say that probably 95% of all riders will wave or nod back. But then, we're a friendly bunch down here in Soth Wales
Strange thing is, the 5% or so that don't acknowledge me are usually the commuter-scooter riders. I just think do-as-you-would-be-done-by!

What does piss me off is the s on these sites and the bike mags who keep referring to the slipper and pipe brigade. i'm old enogh to be a father of most of the guys who make these comments and considering the travelling I did in the late sixties and early seventies attending the festivals around the UK I may well be, but only the good looking ones! I may be an old bastard but I ride my bike GS) allyear round and in all weathers. Why don't the s who make stupid comments about bikers with beards and smell of piss grow up!! Safe riding to you all

Oi! But I presume I'm o.k. on me GS and not an "older tourer".

4 years ago I rode my Pan European over to Nottingham to pick up a Harley Road King. On the way there 16/20 nodded or waved, with just the black & chrome visor brigade ignoring me.

On the way back only 4/20 nodded and I was suddenly into a world where only other Harleys and old BMW tourers showed any respect. Over the next two years the pattern continued, so it's no surprise that the Harley riders think they're wasting their time giving a wave to anyone 'cos 80% they are right.

Things again changed immediately when I bought my 1150 Adventurer and we are back to just the black and chrome visor sports bike riders. Fek 'em.
