Get yerself a go on an 1100, ideally a late one, 98 or 99.......just as planted but better than an 1150, almost as fast as a 1200, cheaper than both, more reliable then both (?), little depreciation, no worrying about what the tossers think of your ride, easy to service yourself (Bill;) ) loads of cheap spares about if you need them.

Nuff said.

Oh, IMHO of course:P

I've never ridden a 1200

It made me laugh :D
No wonder he doesnt value your opinion ;)

ollie... I've owned every model of the Oil head GS's, all excellent Bikes
It's your choice.

If you had read what It had written I stated the 1150 was more comfortable that the Duke ..... not the 1200 as you assume

Now, even those with little brain capacity could have worked that out. You don't have to be Einstein. Not surprised it passed you by. :D

Hi Ollie

This can go on forever!, but all you'll need to do is get a good test ride (minimum couple of hours, better a full day - shouldn't be a problem with BM dealers) Coming from sportsbikes I'll wager you'll love the 1200, an R1 rider brought one into Rainbow when I was there the other day after a test ride raving about it, to me not the dealer - said he'd got to have one.
I personally, coming from an 1100 then two 1150's didn't enjoy riding the 1200 as much. Was one of those funny situations - better brakes, cogbox, handling, smoother more powerful engine - should have been a wow, just didn't do it for ME. I'm not into slagging the 1200 off, clearly many people think it's a great bike, there may be some teething problems, there virtuallly always are with new models, certainly were with the 1150's.

Just see what does it for you & enjoy riding whatever you buy, BM or whatever - & please don't get into this teeeeedious mines bigger/better than yours slagging off as some seem to have on this otherwise excellent board. Bit of "tongue in cheek"s fun but some seem to be getting too deep :shoot:

Well said that man.

As Metal Man said, they are all good bikes.

The 1200 happens to do it for me.

I've done 35000 km on the 1150GS. Geat machine! I loved it.

After 200 m on the 1200GS I had totally forgotten the 1150GS!

So that's my recommendation. Try a 1150GS for a day or two. Then drive around the block on a 1200GS and you will know what I mean.
