Now I'm not sure whether it's the Wi-Fi or the iPad, but for the last few months I have had to press the reset button on the router because it just stops working.

This afternoon, however, it has been very slow opening a new page, the blue background in the address bar hesitates after the www. and then takes perhaps half a minute to fully load and take me where I want to go. I have tried switching the iPad off and on and also resetting the BT router, but it seems to be getting even slower.

Any suggestions, please?

Could you go to a local wifi hot spot and try getting on line, that at least will tell you which component is playing up. Could you give BT a ring and report a suspected fault and ask them to test the line.

some ISP supplied routers suffer from failing wi-fi DAMHIK.

have you got another device you could use with the router to test it?

Roger GSA: yes, that's something I can do, I'll try it tomorrow. :thumb2

cookie: no, I don't have anything else on Wi-Fi to try, unfortunately. My BT router is possibly the latest version, it's about six months old. I think some folks down the road have an iPad, perhaps they might be persuaded to bring it over some time tomorrow. :thumb2

ideally you want a laptop so you can try a direct connection via ethernet as well as wi-fi.

that should narrow it down to the iPad, the wi-fi element of the router, or the router itself/connection to the exchange.

Oh-ho, I might be on to something here, I happened to press the "OFF" switch for a few seconds while switching off just now and the iPad went all funny on me and wouldn't come on again without pressing the switch for a few seconds again. Now it seems to be OK, was that a reboot or sumfink? :eek

I hope it behaves, and thank you for your help.

if you hold the switch on the top down, you should then get a slider to shut the ipad down.

i don't know if just holding down the switch does anything?

Ah, yes, I did that, it seemed the thing to do. Was that a reboot then?
