Just had a chat with Richie Moore who did some prep work on my Airhead, he's just completed a mono rally bike:

Strenghted frame, extended mono, USD forks etc... Plus one of his engines.

quote:

I ran it on the dyno and it made 76 hp at the rear wheel that's 90 at the crank it also made 66ft/lb at 5000 59ft/lb at 3000 that's more power and more torque than Jim Cray with that 1070 and mine is only a 980 and on single plugs

I'd hope the transmission was more efficient than that
Thats 14hp lost somewhere, about 10KW. Got the makings of something very hot.

I'd be interested on what the mods are tho :D

all well and good... but....

surely there is a big week link further down the "chain"

clutch? gearbox? driveshaft? final drive?...

all designed for half that power output:blast

then there is the BRAKES:eek::eek::eek:

hm

Richie knows what he's doing when it comes to this stuff... He also makes a close ratio 6 speed box.

Re braking this enegine is fitted to a fully worked frame and F/R suspension with USD forks and a very big disc brake.

My own airhead specail is left a little wanting in the front brake department although it's perfect offroad - I find the rear drum very good for fast road or off-road work

An engine like this one is an acquired taste an off-road it will compliment those that can... Which is not me but after a test ride (yet to happen) i might be changing my mind

Me and me mate Archie called in at Moto Israels spot near Koblenz a couple of year ago
He was telling us that he can get 110hp out of a "airhead boxer" engine with his tweeks and extra's
I recon he said it was a 20,000 grand engine for a Spanish rider
lotta lotta dosh and same as previous poster - all that power has to begot down on to the road/track
A very very impressive setup/workshop/sales shop very very compitant man
His missis was a stunner tooo :thumb2

Hey Mick, how r u doin?. Your old GS (R kid) is getting the "Moorespeed treatment" right now. The frame's been done to a much higher standard than any HPN bike, it's got the same massive USD forks Wreford Miles has mentioned,320mm disc on the front with Brembo caliper,50mm extra on the rear swing arm,one off Wilbers shock to my specification,re designed rear subframe, full engine job (Seibenrock 1000cc barrels,Omega pistons, sport cam,Moorespeed air filter kit,Moorespeed gearbox,re built wheels with excel rims and stainless spokes.....etc...etc...etc..........I've already re named it " the money pit" but it is going to be amazing. I'll bring it up when it's finished and you can have a go on it.

Marcus.
