Wicklow on Tuesday evening

Sounds like a plan to me.... What is the general consensus on a meeting time tomorrow in Kilmac?
Anytime is good for me, but I'll start the bidding at 11am.

If we're meeting in Kilmac, then the handiest place to meet is the Shell garage on your left as you're heading south.

Grand then.. See you 11.00 at the Shell...

Wicklow hills

love to meet youall,
but can't get free till mid afternoon, I do know a few tracks around the west wicklow side, do you have a later meeting place?
D :thumb

I've just sent you a PM with my phone number...
somewhere about Laragh might be a good meeting place.

Send a text to let one of us know what the story is as we may not get a decent phone signal.

Just to complete the utter hijacking of this thread, here's the report of todays ride (sorry Jockser :D ).

All the pics I took are here (trying out googles photo thingy). I'll just include a few key moments here.

It ended being four of us for most of the run (willsuds, padge, bin ridin and me) with slim shady showing up for the preamble.

We started with the 'short cut' from the Sugar Loaf to Djouce. With the rain it was a bit slippy and I dropped my bike on a grassy section. Fortunately, no one took any pictures before it was righted and the only damage was a bent bar end. :( :(

Then we found a fun gravel track near Anamoe, visited the Glenmalure quarry and went on up the forest road past the youth hostel. While we were in the quarry Bin Ridin was following willsuds and padge up a steep incline while I took pictures:

What isn't obvious from the picture is that the bike is stopped in that position   The next thing that happens is bike and rider tumble back down the hill. Unfortunately I forgot to take any pictures until the bike was picked up again. :spitfire The only damage was a bent handle bars, mirrors and the valve cover.

Overall, a great day! :D :D

Brill pic though. :clap :clap

PS I wonder would a load of gear in the topbox have helped to keep the
front end lighter ? :D

Great stuuf ladz - really great shots Wookie , Nice to meet you all this morning despite me having to P***s off and do domestics.
I remebered where I lived by the time I got back to greystones.
Ive gone up that track dozens of times , the one from the Bellvue Woods to the N11 - but had never gone down it for some strange reason.
Nice little trot - would have loved to continued on.
Seeyall Next outing ........
:) :) :) :) :) :)

Oh and nice to see - I try to pick my way thru the nice stuff - avoiding the grassy bits and the gravel - whereas Willdsuds is looking for all the slippy stuff and the grass - so he can make the KTM go sideways and everyother way - mental note - stay well back and certainly dont be in front - as ya might get run over - touch of class eh !

Mental Note 2 - get tyres like a Massey Fersusson or end up in a heap at the bottom of a hill ............

Military road

Hi all/bin
After seven before I could get out for a spin. missed you all, did a run up wicklow gap , over military road and back down sallygap ballysmutten, blessington, now, I know I am getting old, :rob , and I havent done a run like that for a few years, but , either I need to look at my suspension setup ( or loose weight),but I found the military road bit dog rough? maybe I will try again tuesday.

Great day..... Although I think I'll be needing a new rear tyre real soon
Sorry Slim, prob sprayed you with pebbles and grass ! :D

Thanks to Padge, Bin and W00kie (and slim). Great craic. I have a few pics/vids but the filesizes are large.

That quarry place is great for throwing the bike around... although I was close to the dirt a number of times... especially with an unintentional 10 metre endo  .. Damn that Top Box...

The access roads in glenmalure were a laugh. Loads of them also. Until next time

Oh.. sorry to hijack your tuesday thread... But for your actual trip on Tuesday, the Road from Sallygap down towards Roundwood (R759, junction near Djouce woods) was closed at the bottom due to the discovery of a decomposing drug dealer... Not sure if it'll be open by tuesday?

Padge, the gsa jumps well :D . I would love to try that place on a HP2 or 950SE :bounce1

p.s. sorry bout the thread hijack also

So what was your prognosis with the bikesafe?

Excellent :thumb Weather was sh1thouse until about 5 mins after we got back :( but it was well run, very informative & really laid back ;) Plus you get a lovely certificate - just have to find somewhere to hang it on the bike :D

I would recommend it to anyone - a completely unbiased assessment of your riding ability by guys who have been riding all day, every day for years. They also give you a list of instructors throughout the country should you want / need to follow up the assessment.
And its FREE :clap :bounce1 :clap

Hi Jockser, Just back from a few days off and only seen your post today.I should be up for a spin Tuesday(tomorrow?) evening. While on holidays I done a few days walking on the Wicklow way and came across a track near Glenmalure that we should be able to get onto. There is a bit of a gap at the side of the gate that we should fit through, and although the track is not that difficult it goes on for a good few miles.

Well, lads,

Great fun, and I am so happy to see that photo, and not one taken 2 seconds later!
Mental note - make sure you have enough speed to get up the hill!
Luckily the bike did not fall on top of me, and I had willing hands to get it upright again.

Let me root out any photo's I have later.

Thanks to Wookie, Padge and Willsuds for a good day out!
