Anyone tried wider / grippier footpegs for the GSA? I'm slipping and sliding on the standard ruber topped ones, not confident standing on them in muddy boots. Any thoughts guys?

Fastway footpegs from www.nippynormans.com

Wider pegs

I put some wider pegs on that are a lot cheaper than Fastways.

I found a Yamaha aftermarket peg that did the job just as well which was twice the size as the original peg.

All I had to do was fit a 6mm spacer behind the Yamaha peg's heel. The wider peg is level and straight.

A whole lot more comfortable to stand on for long periods.

Do you have a picture/part number for the peg... I'm a mechanical numpty.

Touratech also do wide pegs, for about £67 I think;

Fastways are probably the way to go tho, you cand adjust the height on them

My advice, go for Fastways fron Nippy Norman, they are superb, giving two height positions, no need to adjust gear change and brake levers and well made from stainless steel.

Bought the Touratech ones myself as they were height adjustable. Great for my size 13s

They were around the £65-£70 mark.

Part no. is 041-0631 just dial it into their website:

Good luck!:D

I saw the photo of the Fastway pegs 'in action' and it was enough to get me to buy a pair. The power of a picture! I had been thinking of buying a pair for a while, partly to lower the pegs a tad now the really low Wunderlich seat is fitted.

no need to adjust gear change and brake levers

So how come?? Not that adjusting them is a problem but simple logic tells me that if you lower ther footpegs the controls will be higher, relatively, so to speak!

I've got dem Touratech ones

and I've got the scratches all over the inside leg of me boots to prove it. They are wider and you will scratch:
a) your boots
b) your trizers
c) the skin on your legs

(delete as appropriate, depending on weather and sense of adventure) even when you are used to them. They also do need a bit of fiddlin' with position of gear and lever to get them settled in, as Bigron indicates up above

Wraithrider,

I didn't have to adjust the gear change or brake pedals with Fastways in the lowboy position, my size 11s seemed to cope, perhaps they are more flexible than your size 13s??!!

BigRon

Well BigRon you do lose flexibility with age!

So I won't have a problem there then - I'll let you know. Nippy Norman's are out of stock at the moment due to high demand for these footpegs.

Out of stock due to high demand, I wonder why????

Do these Fastway footpegs fit on a R80GS as well?

Yes - the ones for the 1200GS fit straight on. They do incline very slightly backwards so that normal riding your feet are on the front of the pegs but standing up you have a great platform.

I went for the TT adjustable ones, Im a UK 12 so the standard pegs on my 11 were a tight fit.
Havent relly tried them yet, still winter up here. They do look the part as well as I like the idea of them being slightly adjustable, they do bring the entire platform area slightly more outwards. Fitment was deadeasy and I do not think adjustments need to be made to the levers.
