Was on the motor way for a couple of hours, and when I came off, I had hardly any pressure in the clutch, it would only engage in the last couple of mm of the pull.

Riding in 5th doesn't seem to cause the problem only 6th gear, I have tried other variations, checked the levels, reseted the internal filter.

Seems strange that after a while only in 6th gear the clutch goes very soft and wont engage. Other gears all fine..

Any ideas? bike has about 8300k on it 2009

This was a known problem and BMW did a dealer notification to re-route the clutch hose... It was a simple 'add an extra cable tie' job. Most were done at service, was yours done?

I had the same issue on a tour, causes a bit of an issue when you approach the toll booth and the clutch won't disengage:blast

The 6th gear as opposed to 5th is a red herring here, nothing to do with it at all.

Roger.

As above.

My bike was supposedly unaffected by the routing issue but the same thing happened, after an hour more of constant speed riding (i.e. on the motorway when you don't use the clutch) there would be no clutch pressure and the lever needed pumping.

On mine the dealer buggered about a bit and bled the system and it seemed to cure the problem.

Ok update on the problem.

I took the bike back to Cannons, and spoke with the Service manager. Very helpful Guy, he is working very hard to change the "percieved" image of Cannons service.

Anyways, they reviewed the recall that you guys identified, it had already been applied to the bike.

So they said leave it with us we will raise it with BMW tech, will call you in a week. 1 Week on the dot, phone call from Cannons, BMW have identified it coudl be the slave clutch cylinder, please bring the bike in and we will "Replace this under warranty, We have agreed and so have BMW".. :D

No promise of course that it will fix the problem as they cannot test it as it manifests itself after approx 2 hours of solid riding with no gear change. Yet to test it out but, scheduled a service with the guys and so far the bike is running very nicely and the clutch does feel a tad firmer. So who knows..

But a :thumb2 for the guys at Cannons, they are actively trying I believe to sort out their past bad rep, and I can only say I was happy with how the problem and my last service was done..

The loan bike thats another story :augie
