Just ordered a Wilber rear shock for my 1150 GSA and went for an unusual option- Hi and low speed adjustment but without the, I think it's called preload adustment knob. I will have to change it with the supplied spanner when she gets on and we go camping. Have I made a ricket and should I get on the phone first thing?

I personally ...

... think you've saved yourself a few quid to spend on petrol. Unless you're constantly changing load i.e. one-up, two-up, camping gear etc then the remote adjuster is just a farkle, and another bit to go wrong :nenau

i know it's £150 odd for the remote, but i would certainly have it.

you need to at least check that you won't need to remove the shock to get at the preload adjuster ring.

Thanks

I rang him up today and had the whole shebang. He reckons I'll be back on the phone within a month asking for the front one too. The reason was that he couldn't confirm I could adjust it in situ. Thanks for your help all.

I'd guess it'd be "problematical" to change the pre-load, without the remote suspension, unless the shock is upside down to how you usually see it.
