Wilbers shocks

Hi I ordered last Dec from Wilbers USA (adventure rider grp buy),630 front 640 rear unit.Shipped direct from Germany, but more importantly billed in US$ 865 so at present exchange £450.Very pleased with the results, the man to speak to is Klaus.

I take it thats Klaus Huenecke at Wilbers USA on 00-1-877-786-6543, calling him sometime between 10AM-5PM Eastern Standard Time then, and quoting Adv Rider ?? (EST = GMT -4 Hours)

By my currency calculations you pay $898 US which is £456.23, now thats what I call a real bargain.

Shocks ordered today: 630 front, 640 rear with 625 remote preload. A 4 week lead time at present as the factory are very busy with orders.

I went for 5mm lower, classic black springs.

$1352.00 inc shipping, handling and taxes.

£685.84 all-in (proper money).

Thats a lot cheaper than Ohlins !!!

Mine arrived today, now fitted...

Looking forward to giving them a wee 'bounce aboot' this weekend..;)

Just had a phone call from Klaus of Wilbers USA. Apparently he cannot complete on his orders quiet as straight forward now. I have had mine on order for a month now and he phones to tell me that he is having trouble with Wilbers. I wont go into the details as those concerened I am sure will get a call. He can still offer me Wilbers but obviously the new delivery would be from today...another 3/4 weeks or I can have a refund or I can have his new shocks that he is an agent for... http://www.hyperpro.com/cgi-bin/index.pl I have heard of these peeps before and and decided to go with these...aparently same features/price but better speced. We will see in another 2/3 week for expected delivery.

had mine in for nearly a week now, not even started to play with the settings.

Not the easiest to install

Had to lift up the rear subframe to get at the top mount  Took about 3hrs total to do.

I heard about klaus, aparently he started to stock other makes of shocks and wilbers didn't like it so they cut him off :nenau

That about sums it up. I still did have the choice of the Wilbers via another contact of Klaus but decided to break the mold and go with the HP's

I got my order in with Klaus, then later he phoned me with the bad news about Wilbers no longer supplying him. I read the post on Advrider, and I am still unsure about placing an order with Wilbers or Hyperpro but I am leaning towards Wilbers via the UK distributor who has offered me a very good deal (close to the USA deal on price).:thumb2 Also, I can't see a remote preload option on the Hyperpro website which is an absolute must for the GS IMHO.

I feel sorry for Klaus however I have no problem with buying Wilbers products so long as they do what they say on the tin, and can be rebuilt as and when necessary by someone with the tools and components needed. I would buy Ohlins, but I don't think the price premium is worth the extra money for a similar product, albeit the best known brand.

Just a wee line about the Wilbers...

I fitted mine last Thursday and then went off for the weekend with a group of GSesrs....I've now ridden just short of 500 miles during that time..

Of course they feel better than the OE kit, mainly because the OE rear was on it's way out anyway...

I've also changed tyres to Metz. Z6 Roadtec so I've changed two items at the same time...which is perhaps not the best way to evaluate one or the other, however.....:D

The Bike has never felt so planted, I was a real cynic about all this changing suspension malarkey....nae mer...:thumb

Even though, for the most part of the weekend the roads were wet, the Bike was supremely sure footed, almost as if the road was dry which is of course down to the tyres to a large degree but ably assisted by the Wilbers that were keeping them in touch with the road at all times...

I'm in Love my Bike again!:thumb2

Front and rear inc. hydraulic preload adjuster on the rear unit, £681 delivered...more than happy...:D

I must confess but it looks like your right about the preload adjuster. Klaus did say they would be the same spec and price, either way I am sure there would price adjustment. They way things are going anyway I doubt I will get to experience them for long...when this puppy is rebuilt I think I will be selling it on.....lost interest an all that.

Did you have a link to the Advrider thread I could not find it.

Just found out...Hyperpro do do a remote pre-load adjuster, it is listed on the US site as an option.
