Hi

leading on from my previous thread,I've decided my rear shock on my 05 1200is needing replacement.

So what do you people who have already been there think is the best price, performance, durability compramise.:nenau

I ride in all weathers and want to fit it,set it and then forget about it.:thumb2

Ohlins for me!

Managed to get a new set of Ohlins for a good price (less than a second hand set of Wilbers!) so was originally attracted to these but since getting them set up for my weight I am over the moon with them. Have tried a set of wilbers on a friend's bike and mine seem more 'matched', yes, my friend is the same weight as me and had them set up for him.
I'm not name vain (I actually have a set of shocktubes covering them up from the muck etc) but I think the yellow, blue and gold looks über cool!
Pound for pound, Ohlins seem to have the edge in terms of performance (layman's perspective anyway), comfort, looks with only the price being a bit of a downer.

Hopfe this helps!?

After 25000 miles on original shocks, I bought a set of Wilbers set up for my weight. The rear shock has hydraulic preload adjustment, making it a breeze to adjust for a passenger and luggage. The bike now feel much more confident, absorbing bumps and cracks on the road with ease. Well worth the money!

WP suspension -
UK Importers

I suspect the correct answer is any of them will give you a significant improvement over stock, they are ALL good kit.

I ended up with Wilbers, as much because a lot of peeps on here seem to like them and because the importers Every Accesory give a ukGSer discount.

If I'm honest, when I first fitted them, I wasn't that impressed compared to the expectations I had fromm peeps comments on here but now they have a few miles on them and are 'broken in' I think they are really good. One of the biggest differences being that fully loaded and with the suspension appropriatly adjusted, the bike will behave just the same as solo.

Any how, back to my original point, which ever kit you go for you won't be dissapointed :thumb2

Ohlins look ace and will be the easiest to sell on imho :)

I have Ohlins front and back. They are yellow, which is nice. They do bouncy and uppy and downy stuff quite well too. But, mostly they are yellow. Which is nice.

standard was ok

The standard shock was fine for me,and it lasted 42k miles,:thumb2 and I NEVER take passengers.

Im only going for one of the ones mentioned coz they are cheaper than a stock new one.

yes I would fit a second hand standard one but they are rarer than rocking horse shite, them WP look quite bling though and don't they fit WP as standard on KTM's or is it BMW:nenau

I use Hyprepro. They are great value and do the job perfectly:thumb

Oh, you have a choice if black or purple;)

Front one is just the same as Ohlins can't tell any difference at all (unless the rebound is put down on the Ohlins making it soft and unusable. I got a good deal second hand otherwise I wouldn't have bothered (my front had 42k on it).

Rear made a big difference, it feels more planted off-road, at least within the limitations of what the suspension travel is.

Timolgra had a decent thread up where he couldn't decide what to fit for his recent trip, worth a read.

Don't believe the warranty b/s, you only get 5yrs if you return it every year for servicing. :blast

Personally if I couldn't get Ohlins cheap I'd get the aftermarket WP since the front is WP already. My 2/c.

Dunno. 'Öhlins' and 'Oehlins' (the ¨ is replaced by an e) are correct. 'Ohlins' is wrong. :blagblah
Who cares ? Come to think of it, 'Dunno' is wrong too. :D

As a British Company, are Hagons not in this league?

No. Hagon make good, but budget suspension. I always recommend them to people wanting an alternative to a stock unit, but not someone exotic (=expensive). They are great for people with old bikes that have hard to find original units.

I have used Hagon in the past with no problems, that was on and "old" 2003 bike, when I need to replace the suspension on the 1150 I will be giving Hagon a call.
