Hello looking for a recommendation please:

We have been reading Morocco Overland-Chris Scott and are looking for a little adventure in the south for a solo 4x4.Not too technical please a place/route we can camp and enjoy the stars without being moved on every day.

Any comments on:ME1,ME2,ME6,ME7.

We have done loads of fantastic camping up north but have little experience of the south.

Thanks to all

South Morocco ...

... or Western Sahara can be a bit tricky the closer you get to Mauritania, because of a very large minefield. You need to do some research and determine where exactly you want to go, Morocco is a very large country

Try English descriptions of the routes and you'll probably get more responses. I'm currently in Morocco and don't have Chris's book with me, so can't help you.

South is easier than the north as there's less agricultural ownership of land. Even in places that are clearly not privately owned you'll probably get some guy turning up trying to extract some money especially if you stay longer than just an overnight.

ME1 - Missour to Beni Tajite is now a sealed road
ME2 - Bouanane to Erfoud is part sealed and involves a run across the hamada
Can't comment on ME6 or ME7 never done them.

MH1 - the first part from Midelt is well fu@ked, there is a steep descent at about 20 miles in, with a thousand foot drop off to the right and is very narrow. Just about OK on big bikes but a 4x4

MH1 from Imilchil to Boumalne is a very nice track with fantastic views, recommended. Last 30 miles are sealed though.

MH2 - Imilchil going north is all sealed, but fabulous views.

You may want to attempt MH5/MH4 Boulmalne to Nekob. Practically all sealed until you get to the Tizi n Tazazert pass (good cafe` here) then a nice slow 4x4 route down to Nekob.

Never done any of the MS routes, so can't comment.

Tim, these are the routes to the East of Zagora, South of Alnif, Tazzarine and Rissani.
