Swapped the Wilber front and rear shocks off my old 06 GSA onto my 08 GSA without any problems

They'll be different as in longer. But that wasn't the original question!

If you fitted them as a pair (front & rear) then fine but I wouldn't want a tall shock & a short shock on the same bike

They're different in height alright.
Besides that, GSA has larger gas tank, so I imagine front spring is stronger too, or at least you'd need to adjust front preload.
Your BMW dealer should be able to inform you.

The centre stand for the 1200GS has a different part number to the ADV centre stand so it might be necessary to change the centre stand if you fit the ADV shocks.
