Hi Chaps
I have a brand new exhaust end can that I took off of my brand new 2004 1200GS. Can I put this end can straight onto a 2012GS1200 Tripe Black? The reason for this is that I will be selling my Triple Black and want to take off my Scorpion Exhaust end can as it works with my Metal Mule Pannier racks which I am keeping.
thanks for your advice

No, the fitting is different because of the exhaust pipe valve on your 2012 bike.

Hi Schtum
Ah Bugga!
Thanks for your quick and informative reply albeit not the answer I was hoping for :nono
Much appreciated all the best

Not true all exhausts will both straight on, but on a Twin Cam, the exhaust valve actuator also has to be removed.

That is assuming that you are using the whole system from the earlier bike, the end can will bolt on but the pipe is shorter on the later version and is a bigger diameter so it doesn't fit unless you change the headers as well.

So, it will fit if you change the headers to the earlier level, I had a set of remus headers, Akrapovic and at times a std silencer from the earlier bike on my 2011 Triple Black. (Still got them as the bike has now gone soon to be listed in FSAW)

To me "exhaust" means the full system, but I should have been more clear.
The twin cam bikes will take a full system from earlier models. Front and back sections can be mixed between older bikes. But a twin cam header won't work with an earlier model silencer and vice versa.
