KTM wouldn't give the bikes and backup to two muppets.
Correct decision based on fact.
Incorrect option for a company looking to sell bikes to other muppets.
BMW has a much better idea about what wannabe Dakar types want on the Kings Road!!!
KTM knows what Dakar riders need...If they want to win the race, not make up the numbers.

The support Charlie and Co have got from BMW has been a minor investment from them in financial terms and a small gamble. Possibly good publicity and brand coverage.. if a total failure, nothing much lost.
Far less expensive than having to produce a competetive bike that might have won the Dakar.

Just my opinion, of course.

KTM knows what Dakar riders need...If they want to win the race, not make up the numbers.

Reckon they both know what is needed. Until the end of the current race, BMW still have more Dakar wins than KTM. Choice as to whether to invest in winning is a different decision.
