I am not sure that I fully understand your question. But here goes:
MyRoute is a cloud based route creation application. I used it to create the sample routes in your Brive la Gaillarde to Calais thread. Is it good for creating routes? Yes. Is it worth the purchase? Yes, I think so.
Will it work with the BMW TFT app on your phone? By this I guess you mean, will a route you create in MyRoute display on the BMW navigation app on your phone? Yes, it should. How? Save the route you create in MyRoute and export it to the BMW navigation app, from where it should run normally.
Here is a picture of my motorcycle, running what amounts to three separate devices each running the same route, originally created in MyRoute:
1. My Garmin XT, running the MyRoute created route
2. A phone phone, running the same MyRoute created route , via MyRoute’s navigation app
3. My 1600’s TFT screen, displaying the same MyRoute created route on BMW’s navigation app, running on a second phone out of shot. This is the use I think you are asking for.
Your question then might be: Why is Wapping using three separate devices, all running the same route? Answer: I wanted to see if I could, as it would help me to understand how the three different devices worked.
The question then perhaps is: Is it perfect? Yes and no. Using the MyRoute created route on my XT and on my phone (via the separate MyRoute Navigation app) was all but flawless. From time to time, the BMW navigation app (displayed on my bikes TFT screen) differed, as you can see in this picture, where the route’s blue line displayed on the TFT curves off to the left, whilst the XT and my phone both faithfully and correctly show the route curving off to the right:
Why? The BMW navigation app at the time (I don’t know if these have been ironed out since) had some oddities. These oddities sometimes altered the route. There is an entire separate thread where we try (successfully) to find out why this happened.
My advice?
1. Give it a go and see if it works for you. If you have problems, come back to the GPS section for help.
2. Do not wait until you and your six mates roll out of the front door on your French holiday, to see if it works for you. If it doesn’t you (and they) will have little or no time to find out why it’s not working. This will potentially ruin your holiday.
Lots of people expect everything to be ‘Click and play’. By and large it is, right up to the moment that it isn’t. Many of the errors we see on these pages are no more than human mistakes but, now and again, the errors and problems are down to the applications or devices themselves. Don’t wait until your holiday to find out.
