Williams Motorrad Manchester

I've bought a few bikes there in the past before Chester opened and was always happy with the service.

Might go back there now Chester dealer has moved to KTM

I did call at Halliwell Jones last week to look at bikes and cars there.

Apart from a smile and hello from the receptionist, the staff were far too busy chatting to each other to even look at me.

I won't be back to replace either my bike or the car.

Always had good service off them. But then again so I should the Brass I have spent there.

From my understanding, Sadjim of this Parish does work there. He sorted me out (FOC) with a brand new shoulder strap for the tail bag that I purchased from the member on here.

If and when I do return to owning another BMW, I will be taking the trading up to Manchester to see the man in person and buy him a pint. Fantastic service. Thank you Jim.
Sadjim does indeed work there, he sorted me some lock wafers FOC to code the locks on Vario panniers to my key,

Don’t think he does unless he’s returned. I got told around the time of the gs1300 introduction that he’d left for something nearer to where he lived.

I for one will never buy a bike from them again.

I bought a bike from them that was in Bike Trader. I was assured that it had full service history and that it just had a brand new rear tyre and plenty left on the front. I have only done around 100 miles and the bike had a warning light come on. I took the bike to my nearest BMW garage and they stated that the coolant level was well down, the warning light was because the incorrect bulb was fitted, front tyre needs replacing and the rear had just over 3mm of tread left. Cost me £39.00 for a health check and new bulb fitted and clearing of warning light.

The bike had two years missing from the service book. I was told it was because of covid, yet another sales person stated it was because it was serviced elsewhere and not a BMW garage. I was also assured that it was all within AUB (approved used bike), so got nowhere.

I am not a happy customer I can tell you that. So am I being unreasonable about it and should have been prepared for this? I don't know, what are your thoughts.

I had bought all of my BMW bikes previously from Allan Jefferies that used to be in Shipley and never had this kind of problem with my bikes, they were all second hand and the tyres lasted a few years, not a few miles and the bikes were in tip top condition.

Did you not view the bike and test ride prior to purchase?

Moved to Williams from Bowker Preston after what I consider the worst service carried out on my bike (surprisingly no email post service asking for feed back) and response from service manager following complaint .
I traveled from Blackpool to Manchester considerably more milage but well worth it , so much more professional both at the deck and in workshop .

No I did not, as stated I found the bike on Auto Trader, it was the colour I wanted and with added luggage and there was none the same near me.

Well that was a big mistake - buying blind

No matter where I have found a bike - Autotrader, ebay, dealer - I have always viewed beforehand to ascertain its true condition

If I had gone and viewed the bike and taken it out for a test ride, I fail to see how this would have made any difference to the situation. "Does it have full service history" yes, "Will I get at least a years riding out of the bike before I need to worry about changing tyres" yes. OK I will buy it, please deliver on Tuesday.

So travelling miles out of my way, taking a day off (which I could not), petrol money there and back, I would have been in the same situation, taking a test ride would have made no difference.

The condition of the bike is not in question, the service history and tyres are.

I now know that I should have asked for documentary evidence of the services it has done, I never questioned it as stated before, all of my GS's were fully serviced and I never thought for one minute that this would not be the case this time.

I avoid Manchester after they messed me around with a demo ride.

I arranged it the previous day, turned up early and no one know about it. I waited 45 mins till they eventually accepted I had booked the test drive but they did to know as the person I spoke to was off that day - which I told them as he said he was off but the bike would be in front of the store ready to go including the sat nav I'd asked for - but wasn't.

So being the city centre I asked them to put in their post code to the sat nav so I could find my way back at it was now close to rush hour and an hour after I was supposed to be testing it. So the guy then spends the next 15 mins trying to work out the sat nav, only for another guy at this point then told me it was a new one with the connect ride app and that I'd have to down load the app, create and account and connect it up to the bike - this was the last straw - surely they should have told me all this prior to arranging the test ride? I had spent almost and hour and a half waiting for them to sort this out, it was like a clown show, no one knew what was happening, no one seemed to be in charge, and all this when trying to sell a £25k bike??

I've never been back, and won't be either.

Well this thread has shown dealers can make mistakes and most people on here would make shit customers

Personally
I never buy a bike/car/bicycle ‘blind’
Looking at a car on a forecourt, first thing I do is once inside it, is look at the condition and go to the glove box to get the books out & check all the dates/services/locking wheelnut etc
Then I ask for the V5c
Even before a test drive or ride
Some salesmen don’t like it - but they’re selling and I am buying
Then I check the vehicle - tyres/marks and engine
AUB bikes should have minimum tyre depth and service records
Has it got BMW’s warranty and breakdown cover - check it has been activated
