Wind on arms - what fix ?

Hair shirt anyone.

Some of the attacks in these comments about comfort do make me laugh. We all, with no exceptions, one way or the other try to make riding more comfortable, safer and more enjoyable.

I for one don't enjoy getting beaten around the head for hours on end and consequently change the OEM screen. Neither do I enjoy getting wet and cold and therefore have Gortex everything and heated gear.

Equally I don't enjoy having my Chalfonts on fire and therefore change the OEM seat.

And so next time you see one of the so called "Purists' or was that 'Puritans' shivering at the road side with a 10 rounds Mike Tyson glazed look and the John Wayne bow legged where's the vaseline walk just smile and admire a 'true' biker......

I'll think you'll find that 'true' bikers as you call them, have already done the modifications you've just described.

They are also likely to wear proper clothing to keep inclement weather out.

But a solution to keep wind off the arms will remain the Holy Grail of adventure motorcycling.

Actually I'm having issues with the wind blowing the ash out of my handlebar mounted ashtray, it goes in my eyes and makes a mess of my colour co-ordinated twat suit. Is it because of this that you don't like riding behind me?

You could fit one of those 70's retro ash thingies with a plunger on top that makes the ash drop inside.

Not really bothered about the ash, It's the flatulence vapour trail that I struggle with.

In a serious answer to your question
I fitted an Adventure screen to my 2021 GS its a lot better but still not perfect and I still get wind on my arms (Not that I mind that ) but its better around the head area

i don't think anyone really understood what i meant in my original question - that's probably me not explaining very well.
There must be a reason why they sell those winglets -i don't know what they do or if they work.

I went from a 1200RT (you get wet even on a RT) to a GSLC, you are only 1" shorter than me. The GS does 75% what the RT can do and is 40kg lighter. Actually wind protection (standard screen) is vg. you just need to take some imperfections into account. In the summer if it gets hot I fit an even shorter screen. In the end you will fuck around with the ergo so much that you will stop any wind coming in and your visor will steam up...even in the summer and than you will try to find a solution for that... Dude is a bike. PS. I tried the GSA screen and didn't make any difference to me...went back to standard.

But others love their GSA screens on a vanilla GS. You need more research. Maybe a poll? And then there’s the question of the winglets. Don’t write off the winglets and how they might (or might not) act in conjunction with either or both of the screens. All before you even lift the lid on larger hand guards. I’d recommend starting a spread sheet, more in depth questions and some serous statistical analysis. If anyone has a spare wind tunnel they can lend you, bite their arm off.

If you want to be protected from the elements then use the car FFS

Yes, the wind will be colder on your arms.

Good point, well made. The biting off needs to be reciprocal.
