Hi
I’m trying to repair a computer to give to one of the boys in the men’s shed and had to install a replacement hard drive.
I have an installation disk for Win7. This may be enough for what he needs but I’d prefer to install Win10.
You used to be able to do a free upgrade from 7 to 10 but that’s passed now and I need a product key for 10.

I see there’s loads on eBay for a few quid but I’m very dubious.
Has anyone used one of these with success?

Failing that, does anyone have a spare win10 product key I could have for not much money, please?

Install the version of Win10 that matches your copy of Win7 then use the Win7 product key. As far as I'm aware this will still work. If you can create the install media on another Win10 machine then it will install and run without a product key but it will nag and a few customising options won't work.

Gosh, I hadn’t thought of searching the web….thanks for that.
Trouble is my copy of Win7 won’t activate. And without an activated copy of windows on your pc those upgrade routes don’t work. Already tried.
Guess it’s been installed too many times. So I need a win10 product key

Ah, you never said you had a duff copy of win 7 ;) had i known that i was going to suggest a web copy of 7 and upgrade that way..

even if you have the product key, and if your copy of win 7 wont accept it, the win 10 route may not work still
