Windows 7 Printing

I've just bought a Compaq laptop complete with W7 but can't get the bloomin thing to see my printer. My main PC is running XP pro and has the printer plugged into a usb slot. I have a Vigor 2800G router connected to that pc via ethernet and the other pcs in the house connect wirelessly.

The other pcs are running XP and all use my printer happily. The W7 laptop immediately found the router and broadband but refuses to see my XP machine and/or its printer.

ps I have exactly the same issue at work with a similar setup.

Any thoughts?

Google Windows 7 + your printer and you'll find any compatibility issues and hopefully be able to download a new printer driver. Had to do this with an old HP printer when I got a new PC with W7. The hidden 'benefits' of upgrading eh...

Make sure your XP machine is set to be visible and they are both in the same workgroup.

Also make sure the share on the printer is visible!
