If I click any of the 3 buttons (Create, Reply To or Forward) nothing happens and WLM hangs. I have to kill it in Task Manager (Windows 8.1 64-bit).

This is NOT a server issue as it affects multiple email accounts; the program just stops, even before it would send anything to an external server.

I can receive emails OK just not do anything with them.

All searches of the web bring up issues where an error message comes up - I don't get that far. Tried Repairing WLM but loathe to reload as it means backing up everything.

Possibly an AV/Firewall issue but no updates to AV (BitDefender) which has been running OK for 5 months.

All advice gratefully received.

Many thanks,

A

Did that - Looked under Applications logs and Windows logs, found nothing BUT under Overview and Summary found the latest Program Hang -

The program LiveComm.exe version 17.5.9600.20911 stopped interacting with Windows and was closed. To see if more information about the problem is available, check the problem history in the Action Center control panel.

All Greek to me - looks like LiveComm.exe is the problem, but why/what is happening (or not)? Nothing in Action Centre Control Panel so will try a Restore to a few days ago (problem started yesterday) - will do the restore later as I'm busy tonight.

Cheers,

After wasting most of a day reloading WLM etc it still doesn't work.

Binned it (after 10+ years of being a Microsoft email program user) and loaded Thunderbird. Does what it says on the tin plus you can sync to Google Calendar (which I never managed with WLM).

Having only just migrated to IMAP this year, many emails were only on the laptop. I've now moved all my on-PC files back onto the BT server so all my other devices can see all my folders from anywhere. I'm not important enough to worry about others hacking into my dull life!

Anyway - problem solved.

In all honesty I wouldn't recommend any email client to people these days but would say use the Web version. Clients just screw up and pop 3 or imap just doesn't work well. I forward all my accounts onto Gmail and either use the Web or the app on my phone. Using Gmail, chrome and an extension I get push notifications whether chrome is open or not. Far more functionality and I can reply from the other address as well if I want. All email in one place and avaliable to everything everywhere.
